Hey all, this is my first post on TA, When i saw tatgirl's name mentioned on this thread i thought she may appreciate this post(she told me i would post here one day). We had many conversations about how sick mauro is as well(some, ironically on a weekend we went to see ferry in toronto), mauro was one of my favorites as well. First time i saw Mauro was at a giant event(2001) downtown(can't remember the name) after they were kicked out of circus and he was amazing. I have heard many live sets of his before then but he was slamming track after track that night and i had the best time. This is where i agree with msjulia and djwoody, mauro WAS sick.
here is where i agree with davet, now if you hear 1 hour of him you can go home as the rest sounds the same. He is just too monotonous now but I also side with the mauro lovers, that ferry has played the same set for 2 years.
If i had to choose, i'd choose ferry, he has more energy on the decks, Mauro used to go nuts but now? Though i have not seen him since last year, he doesn't seem as into it as he used to be. Sorry for the lengthy post. |
Ferry has played the same set for two years!?!?
WRONG. If this was like Nov '03, I'd agree. He came to the west coast and played, well, the same stuff over again...but right after that, he basically got a whole new box of records cause all his sets sounded different and AH-MAZE-ING....like EVERY FRICKIN' SET, radio mix, etc...then he came back in February and was COMPLETELY different than in November. I didn't recognize 75% of the tracks, his bin was full of whitelabels while when in November it was tons of released records.
Ferry has been putting in a lot more techno into his sets which have made them insane. Ferry has evolved over the past 10 months, bigtime.

Well, i'll take your word for it, i haven't seen him since jan. I have checked his playlists, downloaded a set from russia in july and looked at his panama set from two weeks ago, looks like 50% older tracks to me. I think "jump the next train" is the only recent track he played in that panama set. I hope you are right and i am suprised next month as he is one of my favorites.
