I really miss the days of Mel Allen and Phil "Holy Cow" Rizzuto |
sigh ... you break my heart. sterling and kay were awesome together. when kay moved over to the yes network, and they brought in charlie steiner, that's when things went wrong. steiner is by far the worst announcer in the history of sports. no one knows what in the world he's talking about half the time. he'd rather try and say something profound than call the play ... and when i'm listening on the radio, it's usually because i can't see what's going on. thanks a lot CHUCK. but john sterling is awesome ... he knows the players, he knows the game, and i am so not tired of hearing him say "the yankees win, theeeeeeee yankees WIN!"
i think michael kay lost a lot when he split up from sterling ... they complimented each other well, and he's not the same by himself at all. and don't even start me on suzyn waldman. pooey on her.
and if anyone's gonna talk about bias, howbout the announcers on espn calling the game? the only way it could be more obvious that the announcer hated the yankees was if he was wearing a bosucks shirt and hat. when the ump made a bad call against the twins, he was all over it, but when he made a good call in the yankees' favor, he couldn't bring himself to say it. i can't remember his name at the moment, but if i did, i'd pooey on him too.
