I haven't heard the Desyn Masiello set, so I can't say whether I rate it or not.

I personally would give the nod to Zabiela's EM. The mixing was just delicious, and the tunes really blew me away, especially the last few.

The Sasha & Digweed Renaissance EM was also pretty good, but it just didn't quite capture the entire feel of their Wild in the Country set. If they would've broadcasted the whole five hours it would've undoubtedly have been the best EM of the year, but of course that's not how the Essential Mix works.

I'm not a big fan of Above & Beyond, but I have to admit that their EM got a lot of play from me for a number of weeks.

Christopher Lawrence had the best Essential Mix of the year IMO. I have said for years that this guy was waaaaay underrated, nice to see him getting the attention he deserves these days.
