This election woke up a lot of people to the current political situation and many more people are involved. I don't think it will be as easy to push things through anymore.
so let's go down the line here, I don't give two shits if Bush blocks federal funding for stem cell research. Let him ban gay marriage, I think that is a good thing (totally another topic) and I don't pay American Taxes, so funding the war in Iraq means nothing to me. So that's no score for you
You have every right to voice your opinion but your opinion is tired and pathetic because you offer no reasons, you compare Bush to Hitler, yet you don't say anything about it. The bush election does not affect you directly, it affects you indirectly. Just as I thought, you don't have the balls, you talk a big game but you won't try to do anything about it, rather than bitch and whine on this forum. |
YOu don't think Bush can get things passed? And you're basing that on what? He tried to get his shit passed even with the Democrats controlling the Senate for awhile.
Good for you that you don't care about stem cell research. But there are million of people who stand to benefit from it. And I could on forever about how Bush lied to his people, is waging illegal wars and is scaling back civil liberties with the Patriot Act...but there isn't much point debating these things with people like you.

Bush has stated he wants to end partial birth abortions. There is a big difference. Do some research on them and I'm sure you'll feel pretty much the same way.
| quote: | | He wants to block all federal funding for stem cell research. |
Actually, he's the only president in history to give any federal funding to stem cell research. And there is no ban on private stem cell research.
| quote: | | He is going to try to ban gay marriages. |
As far as I can tell, he is against them, but the decision has been left to the states. If you happened to vote yesterday, you'd remember that there was a place where you voted for or against state recognized gay marriages. Sounds like you're mistaken here.
| quote: | | He is going to ask for more money (billions) to fight the war in Iraq and other military ventures he is planning. |
Maybe. Maybe not. What other "military ventures" do you think he's planning? It's not quite like planning a weekend in the Hamptons, you know.
| quote: | | And there is every reason now to think he'll get these initiatives passed. |
There's still plenty of power in the house to check him if he tried to push anything too radical, but chances are, yes, he'll have a better chance of actually accomplishing some of his goals with less resistence from the Congress since he has a majority party advantage. Oh no, holy shit, God forbid we actually test any of the ideas our political leaders come up with.

Of you think you're right, but you don't have the resources to back up your hollow argument...I'm not quite sure which it is.
Sounds like maybe you should do some of yours.

As much as I am for the rights of homosexuals, it seems a lot of liberals are forgetting that John Kerry was also against gay marriages.

Please take note world:
This is a President elected by Rural White and Southern White American voters.
The President made large efforts to get as many of these voters to support his ‘religious’ agenda; which ironically has no solid relationship with the Christian faith. He kills people in a War which is not in accord with the Christian faith but proclaims his righteousness in his stand against gays.
That type of duplicity in religion ( which bares slim resemblance to Christianity) garners support from Southern American voters which also have a weird or misinformed understanding of Christianity .
The importance a religious movement for Bush was his strategy to convince stupid southern Americans what the true definition of religion and politics should be.
This was an important step because Southerns could be convinced what to believe in their religion. This was possible because with the lowest literacy rates in America ; Southerns rarely if ever read the bible. They rely on Evangelists to tell them what is right and wrong. They are sheep in this religious propaganda.
Thus Bush was clever not to mention to these same Southern voters how their own religion does not condemn his tax cuts, his disregard for the poor, and policies abroad.
The Bush brainwash for the south worked well on these idiots because obviously his entire economic policy was against their own interest. But his one issue on anti-gay marriage became the most important issue for them. They were convinced that they would rather live in poverty and stupidity than allows gays to have rights. But don’t be surprised. These are the same white southern voters who believed blacks should not have rights either.
Please take note :
The entire North Eastern United States , California, Washington, Oregon, Illinois, Wisconsin, and Minnesota voted Kerry.
All Southern States voted bush too (exception for Ohio, Iowa, and Missouri which voted for Bush by slim margins).
Please put your anger to the Southern White Americans not all Americans. The problem and stupidity of America lies within this area of America.
Thank You
American Citizen
