Hey mate,

I like the sounds and progression used in the intro though have to echo what others are saying, it does drag on maybe around 30 seconds longer than it should but its definately still a nice intro.

After that point it flows very nicely indeed, this tracks definately got a great progression to it and the drum beat and percussion is excellent.

The break is a bit too sudden for my liking really, after the nice progression before it I would have expected the same going into the break. That strings though are absolutely awesome though, works a treat. Needs a little something extra to take it on another level from after the break I reckon but again thats a point thats already been mentioned.

Maybe the kick could have a bit more punch to it also, but I guess thats my personal taste.

Very nice track though, flows nicely but needs a few more elements to it to sound really complete.

thanks for the thorough comment.. yeh, I could have added some more stuff in there, Pads another lead and such, but I really wanted to keep it minimal..

At the very begining, my first impression was that is sounded pretty original - not like the cliche sound I'm used to. I kinda got bored halfway through the intro (it was good but far too long). The melody was good but it felt like it was a bit lacking in power (maybe a different kind of saw would do better). The rest was pretty well done.

Oh and - you got your artist and track name fields backwards in the tag
thanks, alot of people have been complaining about the length, some really didnt like it at all.. OMG!!! ID tag wrong, i need to change that.. thx for the info..

- i like the 'subtle' synth/fx work in the bg
- that transition into the second break is kind of to fast i think
- the strings complement the whole feel of the song nicely
- i felt i was a bit repetitive at times. though over the time that i've had it downloaded since u first posted it, it has grown on me
hey, thanks, I agree with the variations in every 8 bar, I guess removing the kickdrum once a while, and adding a reverbed crash here and there did it for me.. didnt think of it.. nice that it has grown on you, the best tracks does huh

The snare is great, it really adds space to the rhythm section.

J.
cool, i was kinda worried the snare was a bit too 80s for some

Hey subtle,

Just listened to the track, it got so many reactions and therefore I expected a perfect track. Or do you get so many reactions because you are a site admin?

Anyways about your track. Not a whole lot happens. The intro is very very long and not very intresting because you hardly introduce any sounds other then the drums (percussionwise the track is really really good)

The break itself melodywise is quite simple but effective. A bit slow though. I expected a lot more to happen during the break though. But there is nothing that you add during the break and after reintroducing beat-percussion and bass you do not add anything either. That makes the song just drag on and becomes repetitive.

So my final conclussion is that this track is good percussion wise. But it lacks melodic energy and additional sounds, riffs, pads to really get my attention.

Cheers!

hehe, Luke is t3h site admin, im just a wannabe, but maybe it helped i am quite satisfied with the reactions of this tune, some cant stand it, some love it, some thinks its ok, and some only likes parts of it.. it could definitely need an extra melody or pad, but i dont wanna overproduce the track...

thanks for feedback all!

Hi. I already enjoyed the first version of this track, thanks for sharing the final version in 320 kbit.

Very original sounding Progressive sounds.

Also your remix of Klangzentrum's "In Her Eyes" is well done.

When i heard this version of the mix, i was wondering where i heard it before, it sounded so familiar.

I found out I heard this track on Gerry Cueto's promo 2 set; although it sounds like a much more improved mix than this one(?)

Great job on the melodic side man, keep in touch =)

I agree with the other poster. The kick could use more punch... it's also noticable in the promo set when your track comes in... the top end of the kick goes away too much... maybe layering highpass filtering a bright kick and layering it on to yours for some top end.

So he's not really Subtle after all...

I like the break... This is the kind of stuff that gets on Tiesto's next concert and has MC Stretch talking over it... :P and some sort of odd visual.

What could improve tho is the build up. Yes refering back to the Tiesto example... MC stretch and the lights wouldn't go nuts on that buildup. I know it's a chillout prog tune, but not everyone plays it that way So you could do a drop in the filtering of the synth 8 bars before the beat comes in... do some sort of kick roll... stop everything for a beat then bang in with the track.

The basslines and the basspad also need to be separated (you could have the basspad rumble the subs on the breakdown, but then put a highpass filter when the beat comes in, so there's less clashing)... They are clashing causing lack of clarity in the lows... that could also be your other reason the kick is drowning and not being punchy. Roll off different elements in the lows to different frequencies (depending on what you want to have dominate the subs more or less).
Because some prog tracks have the kick and bassline dominating... or the kick and basspad dominating... so I'm not sure what you want.
