Trance Isn't Trance

I feel it could have been made into a right pretty track had Tiesto not chosen to add a uselessly long two minute breakdown and grandiloquent anthem. Before you get started, increasing the length of the breakdown and volume of the lead synth does not make a good track better and =! evolution either. At least not positive evolution.

And one of the better of the past decade? Why that's just plain ignorant.

Radagast, stop engaging in historic revisionism. According to your definition, all epic trance will never live up to your idealized, mythical expectation. It's like someone obsessed with Romanesque architecture saying everything Baroque is a piece of crap. They're different styles and it's pretty unfair to compare 1994 classic trance with 2001 anthem/epic using a biased set of values.

Suburban Train was a landmark piece that virtually no one disputes.

I would consider myself one of the snooty elitists here, but I draw the line when people begin to change history books on work like Suburban Train. It was essentially the apex of the epic/anthemic sound, before epic sloshed off into deep water leaving the anthem part behind.

You must have added that as an edit, because it's the first time I've seen it.

Radagast, I've proven to you time and again I'm not ignorant. I know how trance used to sound, I'm familiar with "classic" trance and new trance. I've shown I listen to a wide variety of music, more than you in fact. I listen to old-skool rave, I listen to mid-90s big-beat, I listen to 21st century trance. I listen to ambient, I listen to hard trance, I listen to hip-hop and I listen to hard rock.

Now, exactly why the fuck does thinking Suburban Train is one of the best trance releases of the last decade make me ignorant. You know full well I'm not an ignorant Oakenfold kiddie. I have an opinion. How can my opinion on how good the track is be ignorant? It's my fucking opinion to like the song. You seem to think that anyone who likes any modern trance is somehow wrong, as if it's a matter of fact. Have you really gone so far into self-parodying elitism you cannot accept my opinion as my opinion?

You really do want to leave this board, or stop being such an obnoxious, antagonising arsehole. You're just looking for an argument these days. You're so predictable I often go into threads looking for your post, purely from the title. Why do you post here? It's not like your preaching something. You just radiate your own smug superiority because you have taken the time and effort to dig up some obscure German release from 1993 that no one else cares about. It isn't about love of music, is it? It's about love of you and your Knowledge. You're the alpha and the omega, you tower over the cheerful newbies, totally ignoring the fact that you were once exactly the same, and it took a sarcastic Canadian to make you one with your true self.

This in my view is mostly only with trance theres alot of good comeing out on the other style which explains why alot of trance djs are incoperating it into there sets. But i mean come on airbase has just left us. Nothing tiesto is putting out compares to silence, Iv heard some good stuff but it stays small and no one hears it. All the livesets iv heard up to now have been repetitive shit and 2 many djs are getting cocky about themeselves. Whats going on with electronica i mean back in the day id get hyped up at the thought of staying home on a friday night to listen to a ferry corstein mix but now im just bored. Anyways there was my rant i have now just put my volcano suit on so fire away.

i think your smoking crack cause there has been shitloads of good stuff.....maybe you should move on to a diff style of music instead of wasting thread space....capish.....

Nothing improved. Not the quality of production, not the structure of the tracks. In fact both degraded, and one can hear that when compared. I think that anyone who believes trance is better now and/or that suburban train is one of the best tracks of the decade is ignorant. Because I know what some of the best trance tracks of the past ten years are, and suburban train doesn't compare to any of them. I don't care if you listen to every genre of music on planet earth. No, my musical tastes are dictated only by myself, outside sources are only sought when wondering why they change.

I'm always looking for an argument? Maybe. Are you? It takes two.

You know which tracks you think are the best trance tracks of the last ten years. I'm sure I'd find them crap, but then I don't claim that you're ignorant to disagree. That's the good thing about having an opinion, but I'm not sure how much of one you have of your own.

This kid Rada is such a joke...10 years ago he was on the merry-go-round listening to Puff the Magik Dragon ... you werent around back in the day to have an opinion....i dispise people who CLAIM this and CLAIM that about the scene when they werent even there.....

U may fool these kids by reading up on some internet site on the history of trance and EDM...but that makes u no different then some arrognat prick who reads about WW2 and talks smack yet never stormed the beachs of Normandy...if u werent listening back then frankly u should keep your mouth shut...

U preach about 10 years ago, the year 1994 when i was already 5 years into clubbing and 8 years into listening to EDM where were you?

You can read all u want and listen to all your classic bullshit tracks..but like i said..if u werent in the club scene in the early 1990s then keep your mouth shut about what it was like and what tracks were good....you listen to these tracks from 1992 u swear are so good yet u never heard them in a club...there is a big difference between listening in a club and listening on your $4.99 headphones u got in your stocking for Christmas.....so seriously man..give up on the history...u are a clown.

I wasn't insulting you...all i am doing is letting you know that you are a new jack in the scene....and you make yourself look very foolish to older people who lived it....i see you time and time again try and school younger TAs with your so-called knowledge of the past...like a person who can explain all about Michelangelo's ceiling painting..yet never walked inside the Sistine Chapel.

Reason being...in 1979 she was in Studio 54 listening to Disco...while i was in my one piece pajamas with the footsies sleeping.
