following South Beach resulted in my friend dropping over 30lbs in less than 6 months...good diet.
Speaking of which...we should get away from using the word DIET to mean something that is time limited.
few people benefit from such a "diet"...you should simply (and slowly) change the way you eat...and change your relationship to food...not for a certain period of time...but PERIOD.
why the hell do people "diet" and exercise for a while, drop some weight, then go back to their old, unhealthy habits and act all surprised (and get depressed) when they gain back the weight???
forget radical short term diets...slowly change the way you eat, using something like south beach, and KEEP DOING IT. You'll quickly figure out where you can "bend the rules", and how often, in relation to your body type, metabolism, fitness level, etc. Eating well doesn't mean eating tasteless food either...get creative.
I don't give a second thought to the odd calorie, fat and sugar filled "treat" of a dinner...or even a weekend of complete indulgence, lol...because I know that my usual eating and workout habits mean that it won't really affect me all that much.

I like Atkins plan...it's not a diet as others claim it is...if you've red the 3 books, they say it is a new way of eating for life.
Also to correct the misconception....Atkins died from a slip and fall (head trauma...coma...death). It was not his diet that caused it. He did have an intestinal problem previously, but his eating habit was not contributory.
As for these so called Atkin diet products.....they actually aren't really his. The new head chairman of the corp gave the ok to distribute these products and the only product that Atkins really supplied to his patients at the clinic was vitamine supplements and food maintenance courses (prepped meals).
Tho I'll admit...it is a hard adjustment (when you take away the alkaline --no breads--no pasta--no potato foods) but it does help. What's so hard about salads, vegetables, meats, fish, poultry, cheese and yogurt. Neways...Atkins helped many ppl discover their food allergies.
If you think Atkins is hard...try Living whole wheat and glutten free...that's harder. Todays foods do not require labelling the amount of gluttenous additives. How sad
