Any normal person will feel bad if their actions in their past contributed to the suffering of others if they find out that all these actions were based on was misinformation and false propaganda, on whatever side they were on.
And actually my grandfather, who is polish ethnically, was in the soviet army that eventually freed Warsaw. His story about that was really sad.
