According to the pioneer dj forums there are no plans to add .mp3 support to the 800s or 1000s in newer models. There are also no plans for a Mk3 version of the 1000. From what I have read they are working on a next gen unit. More than likely the 2000 series. Pioneer won't even talk about the new unit except to say that the dj community will be blown away.

well see..

dont worry, this all the new expensive gear out from pioneer lately, i think they would wait a bit, let the market adjust, let the people spend cash, then hit it back with some crazy ass shiiit.

Well, try looking at former Pioneer release dates. Were the products usually announced at the NAMM convention and then released later on in the year? If so, expect the CDJ 2000 to come out next year at the earliest. Aside from mp3 support, effects, and support for more cds on a SD card, what more could you really want from a cdj? Sure it is nice to have the new stuff, but if you find a deal on the Pioneer 1000's, I would go for that.

I agree. I would be very surprised to see pioneer release a new cdj before spring 2006. It just wouldn't make much sense. I could care less about the cdj200s, the CDJ800s do everything I would ever need. I could care less about .mp3 support.

Nobody ever said anything about a 2000 model...karl did mention that it is safe to assume they are working on a new cdj & thats about all he said.

Quote From Karl on Pio Forums

Many people ask why is it so expensive and why is this mixer going to be the best sounding club mixer in the world?

The DJM-1000 actually has an unprecedented SNR rating of 105 dB. No other club mixer has this kind of SNR.

The combination of a high SNR as well as the world's first sampling rate of 96kHz/24bit positions the 1000 to be the best sounding club mixer in the world.

WHY is this mixer expected to be the best sounding mixer on the market? Here are some simple answers to that question.

#1 Recording Studio Quality

1. Currently Recording Studios have the highest sound quality mixers in the world.
2. Almost all sound engineers use Digital Recording for laying and mastering their tracks.
3. The Standard of Digital Recording is 96kHz/24bit.
4. Pioneer wants to bring that studio quality sound to clubs !!

#2 The Capability/Potential of 96kHz/24bit digital system

1. Currently, DJs use vinyl and CD (CD is 44.1kHz/16bit.)
2. DVD or next the future digital media is capable of 96kHz/24bit.
3. DJM-1000 can take advantage of this sound quality because of it's DIGITAL IN using 96/24.

#3 The Sound Quality surpasses any Analog Mixer

1. The best quality A/D & D/A converter. (S/N is over 120dB.)
2. Inside the DJM-1000 digital processing is done by 32bit DSP. The DJM-1000 has a dynamic range surpassing analog mixers.
3. DJM-1000 also has the highest quality parts and components in the analog circuitry i.e. power supply; Input/Outputs & more.
4. High performance digital and Analog circuits are fused together to surpass any Analog mixer.

Below are some of the key specs. For more specs please see press release.

Sampling Rate 96 kHz
A/D, D/A Converters 24 bits
Headroom 19 dB
Cross talk (Line) 88 dB
Frequency Response 20Hz ~ 20kHz
Signal to Noise Ratio 105dB (CD/LINE) (at full scale)
Total Harmonic Distortion 0.005% or less (CD/LINE)
Dimensions
428(W) x 359.3(D) x 187.5(H) mm
19 (W) x 14-2/16(D) x 7-3/8 (H)

Plus its got custom 100mm ALPS faders (I've never felt a better fader than these...honestly!) which are sweet! And if you need FX or MIDI, rumour has it that they will be coming out with an add-in module featuing the USB programmable FX from the NUO-5, with MIDI out

+1. I love Alps faders

I also don't personally like the feel of the faders on the djm500/600 and according to skratchworx those are the type used.

Tried the DJM1000, and it was somewhat of a mixed bag. Including the faders from the DJM600 series of mixers for the crossfader instead of their optical fader, and lacking in the FX that make many people go for Pioneer in the first place, it will be interesting to see if people will buy a true high end mixer from Pioneer that is not a "Rave in a Box". One cool thing is it includes a video switcher, as well as a v-link control so you can control video mixing with the crossfader with the addition of an aditional video mixer.

Something that Pioneer will gain on is if they put in a DVD drive instead of the cd drive in the new CDJ-2000 and
on top of that add mp3support. I wouldnt really want it (how cool is it to see a dj flip thru pages and pages of mp3s?)
but i have seen alot of requests about it on Denons forums.

That Ecler looks really nice. A mate of mine has one of the most basic Ecler dj mixers.. can't remember the model number but it's a 3 channel (2 really.. with an extra 3rd for basic input like fx return), it's got beauitful smooth pots and the faders are really nice. Good build quality and sounds great. Respect.

My Tascam is made with all Ecler parts. Too bad I'm missing all the knobs right?
