This thread is good.. i dont know why, b ut its not as bad as most of the begginer threads.

I picked up beatmeatchin failt quickly, i was listening to edm long before i started mixing, ive been into edm since i was 12/13.. i suggest listening to your tunes a lot, at the beginning, you have to know ur tunes like the bakc of your hand, so u can get it all right etc.

i personally and not a huge fan of mix cds, i like some but not a large amount, but some people say listenin to them helps you learn what good mixes sound like etc etc... who knows.

but again, work your ass off. however, dont expect to be world class.

im not trying to stomp on your dream, or anyones dreams, including my own. but im sure if you wanna make it in this field. ur gonna need some natural talent. i dont know what im trying to get at in this post, but you have to be a kickass dj, to be a kickass dj.

haha classic line man.

em it wasent really that long since i first started useing decks really, but i picked it up very fast, this was just basic stuff and wasent that good but it was still mixing on beat (for a few seconds anyway)

i used always end up picking bad songs to mix and i dident have the ear are brains to sus out what tracks to play after one another.

i kept at it and every so ofter i was learning new skills, improving my mixing, improving the amount of time it took me to match the beats and most of all , my ear was after ketting better i know what a lets say 125bpm would be if i heard it and so on with a 140bpm i never knew this when i started and never thought of it.

that ment that i would be trying to mix songs with a huge bpm difference. but wuth time you get good with these proplems and sort out the whole thing.

it wont happen over night like you wont wake up one monring able to mix like (insert you fav dj here). you will slowly get better and better, its like riding a bike man more you try the better you get and the faster , mose skills you will know.

Now as to how long it takes to get to that point, and whether or not you can get beyond that point, that depends on the person.

I agree.....

In the end, you only need to be able to hold the beats together for about 15-60 seconds max.... But if it goes out just a little before that amount of time, it's no good...

I use software, becasue I'm a pov uni student and don't have the money for real decks at this stage...

I love having autobeatmatch, but every now and then, I turn off/ignore the BPM, and use manual beatmatching...

Just have a goal, on how long you can hold the beats together, and once you consistently achieve them, keep aiming higher and higher, until u don't think u'd need to hold them together any longer...

atleast that's my strategy....
