For provincial parks, on a long weekend you've got to book WELL ahead of time...like a month or more before.

At this point, your best bet is to look into private parks (which is what I had to do).

actually for long weekends, they've been known to be gone anywhere from a year to 6 months beforehand. You probably wont find any more sites for the rest of this campign season on a long weekend. My advice is to book for next year when the allow for it (usually later in the season.

As for my favourite camping outdoor areas. I would have to agree with Andrea on this one. Bruce Pennisula National Park up near tobomory is just incredible. I discovered it about 10 years ago with my grandparents and have tried to make it up there at least once every couple of years. But be warned the water is bitter bitter cold. But lots of hiking on the Bruce Trail along the cliffs edge. Great for sunsets as well

Another place I love is Devils Glenn. Fairly close to Toronto. Just north of Creemore and not very busy. Its nice to get away from it all.

I once hiked along the bruce trail from Tobermory to Wiarton. Just north of Wiarton there is a place called lions head and even though camping is forbidden, we still camped on the beach. Only thing is that you have to park your car and hike in about 10 km, but if you really want to do it, its a great experience
