And again, what makes a dj's an accomplished dj when it comes to skills, what skills are required? I find seamingly mixing not the only criteria anymore, sure there must be more to it than only mixing.

you ever step behind 2 turntables?

Dave Clarke is good as he seems to mix in a wide variety of styles in with ease. Unfortunately his use of EFX lately has been absolutely shite.
Paul van Dyk is perfect at what he does.. however, since he only uses two decks and minor fx use on occasion, there is no way of knowing how much more he could do.
Based on the amount of work that they put into their sets, I would say Richie Hawtin (uses a live TR 909 along with his decks), Jeff Mills (1 record/minute), Umek (lots of sweet FX usage and great flow), and Danny Howells (for the same reasons as PvD).
Most pro DJs won't trainwreck and have got beatmatching skills nailed, so saying that they are the best because they don't trainwreck is BS.

Turntablists aside, I'd say:
Eddie Halliwell
James Zabiela
Dj Hype
Claude Young (although I haven't heard from him in years)

if youre talking straight technical skills, turntablists have the edge, but most of them wouldnt know how to keep a beat matched for more than 20secs.

Even if you're right, why would they want to learn how to beatmatch longer anyway. That's like saying Miachel Jordan really needs to practice his granny shots because my granny is better at it than him.
