That doesn't help much when the loops that are made have been tried and tested a million times and are almost completely devoid of new sounds and ideas. If I hear Marco Bailey using the same perc/bass-setup one more time I think I'm gonna break something.

Try listening to different techno.

Of course there is similar sounds, I think with Trance, ALOT of melody's have been used too much.

With Techno, for example:

Henze - Delivery Girl
Hardcell & Grindvik - Armada

^ Those 2 sound very much alike, and In a Mix work well together.

You would probably say that those tunes dont have any new sounds, but they do.

Tim Xavier and Wale Taiwo - Theatre of Sound
DJ Rush - Get On Up (Chris Liebing Remix)
Tim Xavier - Scandalistic Endeavour
Tube-Tech - Raw

I dont think those ^ sound very much alike, They all use different basslines, Stabs, and have an original sound.

I agree, ALOT of techno is going to sound alike. But you hafto look for the 'gems' in the treasure chest.

That was an awful lot of writing just to state the blatantly obvious. Of course there are exceptions, same thing with trance. And I do listen to different types of techno, thank you very much.

One of the issues is that Techno had becomed overly looping and monotonous, as it were, back in the mid to upper 90s, if not earlier, if im not mistaken. Moguls like Oliver Lieb, among numerous others, were disillusioned with the route the genre was taking; namely, a proliferation of this 'looping' Techno that many of us resent so much.

And of course they were all right, yet there are indeed exceptions as we all know.

Oh, and Oliver Lieb was disillusioned about the scene in Germany in general, in addition to being disgruntled with his previous partners in Frankfurt. That's why he left.
