if anyone was wondering about getting the MDR-V6's or MDR-7506's in Canada (they are the same headphone), you can get theme here at an absurd price:

http://www.vistek.ca/search/detail.asp?SKU=159430

however, I'm thinking it might just be cheapest to order them from here (as soon as they get some new ones)

http://shop.store.yahoo.com/hogwildstore/mdrv6.html

and simply pay all that ungodly shipping. might end up cheaper, who knows...

Anyways, in GENERAL, look for the MDR-V6's or the MDR-7506's in places that might sell PROFESSIONAL, *not* consumer, but PROFESSIONAL headphones. Like, musician's stores, stores with professional video equipment, all that stuff...

A friend of mine says:

"For Sony MDR-7506, try www.bhphotovideo.com and do a search on 7506, or check out the link below to see if it works:

SOMDR7506___REG___CatID=0___SID=EB15F9ECE40

I bought my 7506s from them for $90. They are very reputable. They ship to Canada, cheapest is by Air Parcel Post for $21.20."

My brother is now getting the Beyerdynamic DT-250 (80 Ohm version). They were tough to get at a decent price but they will be shipped. I can't wait to listen to these babies at home! Thx Gluegun (and prolly alot of people at headwize for their extensive testing)

Awesome! Be warned, though, they don't really fold in any way, shape, or form, LOL!

By the way, if you're in Germany, chances are you got a great price! Local company and all...

They don't need to fold, so that's OK. Well, a local shop offered them for 300 DM (~145 Euro) but on the internet I found them for 129 Euro (plus 10 DM s&h (~5 Euro)). This whole Euro business is a little tricky . Given the current exchange rate I believe this to be $120. Considering the actual purchassing power of the Euro compared to the US Dollar you might as well convert 1:1. Now is this a good price? I don't really know. It's the cheapest I could find and it certainly is quite an amount of money. Let's hope the phones live up to it! (I know, you can spend thousands of Dollars on audio equipment in general.)

Flec, the MDR-V600 is NOT the same as the MDR-V6. Different housing, different drivers...

Well, if you can't find the MDR-V6, then look for its "pro" version, the MDR-7506 (which is the exact same headphone with a gold-plated plug).

Basically, flec,

the MDR-V600:
*is EVIL
*the 2nd worst bang for your buck value in headphone history (the first being those Bose headphones)
*has little to no bass below 50 hz

the MDR-V6 or MDR-7506:
*is one of the best headphones out there
*perhaps the most versative headphone on the planet
*is just plane AWESOME
*has ungodly bass extension
*is one of the best bang for your buck values on the planet

However, if you want a trance headphone for NOT mixing, JUST for listening, then check out a set of Grado's! get at least a set of Grado SR-80, and try and go as high as your budget allows, to, say, Grado SR-125, SR-225, SR-325...

!!!!!! HOWEVER!!!!!!!!!

For a better, more specific recommendation, here is what information you need to give me. you need to give me WHAT you will be plugging them into, your source, where you will be using them, what type of fit you DO NOT want, to what extent you are willing to modify them (for comfort and such), what you are willing to pay, if you are willing to buy online, what media will you use on them, where you want to use them, if you need them to block out outside sound, what type of sound you want, etc. etc.
