Whee, been a while since I did one of these.

Yes, anyone with half a brain would love to work with Tiesto and help him with singles.
|
Yup, cos with Tiesto's name on it the chance of raking it in is suddenly going through the roof.
| quote: |
For the Tiesto-haters; before you go shooting your mouth off with feebleminded claims about how he is fake or a bad DJ do the following things:
-See him live
|
I have, and it is one of the most half-assed, poorly mixed and shittily selected gigs I've ever been to in my life. Tons of similar reports as well as his livesets give the same impression.
| quote: |
-Listen to Magik 1-7
|
I never saw the big deal about the Magik series, too little variation and innovation and too many bland tracks. Add the fact that 6 and 7 have some of the poorest mixing I've heard in my life, and Magik doesn't get much of a rating in my book. It may have made trance more popular worldwide, but sadly that has little to nothing to say innovatively and creatively.

-Listen to all the Forbidden Paradises'
|
A good series. However, Tiesto only did the first seven volumes of this series. The rest was by Doc Fabian and Misja Helsloot. Also, much of the sound contained on the earlier editions is a sound that Tiesto doesn't even want to associate himself with anymore, since it would clash violently with his accessible popstar image. Ever heard of Akira & Metal D - Trancetrutje?

-Listen to Space Age 1.0 & 2.0
|
Not heard these, so can't comment.

-Listen to 'Summerbreeze', 'In My Memory' and 'Nyana' (you can
probably skip 'Just Be', heh)
|
Summerbreeze is probably Tiesto's weakest compilation ever. It is just a bunch of his hits slapped together for the american market. Nyana is an alltime low as far as mixing is concerned for Tiesto (which says a lot). In My Memory was decent, though as mentioned hundreds of times, the help he received from various producers has a LOT to say in this matter.

-Watch Another Day in the Office
|
A two hour popstar promotional-DVD? No thanks.
| quote: |
-Listen to all the In Search for Sunrises (including no. 4 which just came out )
|
After number 2, they went down the same drain that his mixing and trackselection did. And it's In Search OF.
| quote: |
-Realize he just did a whole slew of shiz for the fucking OLYMPICS and listen to it, its good.
|
Do I really need to draw a paralell between this and Tiesto the popstar?
| quote: |
Now thank Tiesto for making Trance what it is today.
|
He might have brought trance to a wider audience, but I dunno if that is something we should thank him for when it is at the expense of creativity and fresh thinking.
