At this point, I'll likely be rejecting my ballot at the polling station.

i wish people who felt the same took this route. It would send a clear message to ALL parties instead of not showing up.

That assertion is patently false.

Any multi-party democratic system, especially one that allows for proportional represtation (which many here say they'd like to see), is going to result in minority governments. Despite what you may think, is a good thing. Coalitions are formed, partisan politics is replaced by equitable compromise. No one party can unilaterally decide that they will do this or that, and the emasculated minority opposition is eliminated, for a coalition opposition.

Look to the parliamentary systems overseas, where in Israel, the Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, and Finland all enjoy healthy coalition governments.

If we had leaders of parties who, despite their differences, were willing to work together, perhaps we would actually be getting constructive work done. This could include cleaning up government for all parties, not just the Liberals. However, the current landscape of statesman precludes any possibility of co-operational governance.

What worries me most about the Conservative rhetoric is the constant emphasis on their belief that the Liberals must go. This is unrealistic. Such a left of centre party is here to stay, regardless of whatever happens at the next election(s) in the coming year. Is the CPC ever going to learn to play nice with others, even people they might not like?

But why can't they?

Those Canadians who voted NDP are likely happy right now that because of this minority government, the NDP were able to ensure that their mandate was reflected in this year's budget.

No, it's not right.

Why are they left out to pasture, though? Where was Stephen Harper when Jack Layton and Paul Martin were practicing a (unfortunately) rare form of consensual federal politics?

The NDP and Liberals have committed to pairing for the upcoming budget vote. Why have the Consveratives done everything in their power to see that parliament descends into chaos? Has anyone watched question period lately? As a Canadian, I find it shameful the way CPC carries on.

If the Alliance-Reforms were able to work out their differences with the ideologically-distant Progressive Conservatives, one would think that the new CPC would be able to find some middle ground between protesting a party's alleged wrong-doings and attending to very important matters of government... At least until the summer recess.

They chose not to. I'm sure not many will forget that.
