I don’t think anyone could argue two classic hard house tracks in two and a half hours is much of an issue anyway.

Kaos still sucked. Sand In My Shoes and Breathing? he should go to the bass station naughty room for that.

I saw Kaos at 3D friday night and he wasn't up to his usual standard then either. I remember his set at Digital was awesome right from the start, but what I heard friday was really weak in comparison.

Back to the topic of this thread, i love trance music my favourite djs would be pvd

But i think no trance can compete with the energy of hard dance music, try listening to the nu energy collective and say they don't have energy, listen to the new transmission black magic cd,
monochroma - yoji biomehanika, that song is awesome or IK (the yoji remix) play that song fucking loud and the energy is undeniable.
Just like nothing can beat trance when it comes to melody and basically putting you in a trnace, i.e, pvd live at rosmenatques? rave, when he finishes of with jose amenesia - the eternal the feeling i get when hearing that cannot be described in words.

Therefore i think gk would benefit by having a hard dj who can create the energy that would compliment the melody and euphoria the trance djs would create

disagree. i'm not trying to put you down in any way, but (proper) trance is one of the most energetic genre of EDM out there. the other being detroit techno. this might lean slightly towards personal preference, but listen to timo maas - ubik or der schreiber or even quench - dreams and tell me if those track doesnt make you want to dance. to say that tracks needed to be hard and fast to be energetic is just plain silly. listen to proper hard trance like the original second trip and even at 138bpm its still full of energy.

Taubs i think you'll find that the problem with hard style is that it's just not accessible enough for the masses, especially at 6 am.

Trance is just hard enough to please some of the hard crowd while being soft enough to not alienate the proggier mob etc.

To get into hard style(generally) you have to really like ur music fast and with very little variation musically.

Agree with Tachyon on not needing to be fast to be energetic.

One of the most energetic sets i ever saw was John Kelly at Home, Sydney, for the gatecrasher world wide live tour . Absolutely tore place apart start to finish at no more then 137 bpm to a crowd that normally go for hard trance to .

Keep in mind, closing sets are tricky because the crowd has probably danced their arses off all night already, and if they are munters probably have everything wearing off around this time anyway.

The closing act needs to carefully balance driving tunes to keep ppl rocking, and still not going to hard the whole time so that it all becomes a head fuck.

Hardstyle just doesn't have enough variation to do this properly imo.

I agree with what your saying, and i see where your coming from, i really don't like hardstyle, there is a diffrence between that and hard trancce/house/nrg, hard to explain but blutonium boy, dj virus and some of the recent nik fish cds do nothing for me.
i suppose its just me, pvd and nu nrg makes me wanna dance (he's about the only trance dj), tiesto sounds great but i listen to it to go to sleep, but for me nothing creates more energy and nothing makes me wanna dance more than good hard dance

Thought BK was rather crap @ slinky [couple weeks ago now]. He didn't seem to have the crowd going and it wasn't until he played revolution that people got into it - bit sad.

James Lawson however tore the place apart - played two sets, first one at 12am - twisted psy with bit of hard dance and another closing set - mostly main room hard dance, had the place in the palm of his hands.

Fergie was rather drunk [read: absolutely blind!] staggering round offering a bottle of vodka to anyone who came within range.

top night tho
