And also, you could be techinically the best mixer in the world, but if you play 50 shitty tracks, no one is going to like you. But if you are even mediocre at mixing and have an awesome track selection and ability to read a crowd, more people will like you. Mixing is NOT the only standard by which a dj should be judged.

And I have met Tiesto several times. He has always been more than willing to just relax and talk to people. I met him before and after he was voted #1 and he seems the same person to me. He talks to people more at his smaller gigs because there are too many assholes at the larger ones.

And then there are all these othjer dj's who say Tijs is an asshole or conceited orwhatever, but these are the same people who have a picture of themselves behind two turnatbles with headphones on as an avatar. You're so unique.

But he does bitch about not being #1 and about how people shouldn't download his music. Tijs, on the other hand realizes how people downloading his music in North America before it was available here exposed a lot of people to him. And the PVD also bitches because no one's contacted him to play the Olympics or any other non-traditional edm setting and syas that "trance only belongs in clubs." I think that's bullshit. Saying that generally says that people have to be fucked up to enjoy trance. Maybe if PVD spent less time whining and more time selecting better records, he might be #1.

YES...

I think the only reason that PVD was bitching about Tiesto making his own concert and saying that "trance only belongs in clubs" is that because he (PVD) is not able (probably never will be) to gather a 25,000 people, get them paying $70 and make them go nuts for 8 hours. I would personally shoot myself after 3rd hour of PVD's music.

I think his track selection has been very good. I like The Nyana indoor cd (most of it). It's not his best but it's good. Do you expect him to play the same type of music forever? It has to evolve.

Look at any of Tiesto's live set tracklistings. He can still select the songs. You can't judge somebody by 1 cd.

Also,

If Tiesto put out cd's under a different name, people would probably listen to them more or even if people listed his sets under an alias. Then once you told them it was Tiesto they would probably shit a brick. The name "Tiesto" is unfortuanetely a big turnoff for some close-minded people.

.... his stuff doesnt hit me anymore as it used to....

maybe il blame ASOTs and GBDJ for playing the the music he plays..cause when he mixes em...it sounds overplayed and commercial....

guess...it is worth being a nOOb...one gets to enjoy tiesto more.

Let me explain to you...Anyone can discuss over Dj Charts..Anyone can say that Tiesto shouldn`t be at number 1...For instance, I say that PVD shouldn`t hold number two..In my opinion, Armin Van Buuren is better than Pvd because I like his style...
If you ask me Tiesto deserves number 1 spot because he used to produce the best, perform the best, make the show stuff best...and now, he is still on top because people respect him and even a person who is a beginner at Trance music, goes to party of Tiesto when it comes to his country...Every Tiesto concert has very crowd and that crowd never stay like that...All jump and enjoy the set played by Tiesto...Do not forget to respect...Oakenfold was the legend of Trance music...now where is he? trying to compose a soundtrack for a drama movie?? he might not be on the stage now but everyone respects him and his music he made...I do respect pvd too because he is one the best..I just say that Armin is better than him and that is my opinion..I went to Armin Van Buuren party in Pavilion this Wednesday(In Cyprus) and Tiesto will be here to play on 3rd of August...Armin was fantastic and I await the same from Tiesto too!! Keep jumping my friends...

I go to see tiesto because of the energy the shows have. not because of how he mixes every track and fucking walking around with a notepad and pencil labeling everytime he makes amistake. i love the energy he produces, PVD seems really emo when he plays IMO. shows no energy and emotion and just stares at the mixer...even though i do go see him aswell...because i like his mixing. its all personal preference lets not start any wars and try to force our beliefs onto others. never works. its like trying to force christianity on muslims. or budhism on protistants

ok u obviously have not seen pvd at his best... first off tiesto does suck...and he IS an arrogant bastard as was said earlier on in this topic...but besides the whole djing thing... HIS TRACKS ARE NOT THAT GOOD...in fact some are borderline cheesy...and for the ones that are not...he either steals from others... like "Tiesto - Adagio for Strings" pfft... William Orbit already redid that one and instead tiesto gets more credit...his version isnt even that creative... and for another example... Tiesto - Honey... come on, thats not his song...he just RE DID IT ...its by billie ray martin... at least above and beyond had the decency to call it a remix... fuckin tiesto always wants to take credit for everything...man its pissing me off just writing about it
