Not trying to be a dick, but it just annoys me when people say things when they don't know what they are talking about... high frequencies are not susceptible to damage. High decibels are what damages. Decibels and frequency are two different things. In fact, if you want to use frequency as your argument, you should of said "low" frequencies damage hearing. That's why BASS damages your ears, while TREBLE is just simply annoying. Example: think of a dog whistle. It functions at an extremely high frequency, but it doesn't affect humans. Clear? |
lol...high frequencies are more susceptible to damage FROM intense sounds... hence the reason why most elderly people have high frequency hearing loss... since u want to get advanced, the basilar membrane localizes sound, transmitting in into an electrical impulse... each frequency is localized at a specific spot, with high frequency sounds being towards the base... which only begins to explain why higher frequencies are affected so significantly... u misunderstood my original post if u interpreted it to mean "high frequencies cause more hearing loss" the dB level is what causes the damage, your sense of higher frequency hearing is more prone to damage
