roxy will always be the best venue out of all the existing space right now.
hmm btw what IS going on with that place, besides it being a skating rink?

Dude, Crobar can hold 1000 more people than Roxy...well legally..Roxy's capacity was barely over 1800 and Crobar is just about 2700...
Dont get me wrong I like the Roxy for PvD too...but Crobar has a more epic feel to it like your apart of soemthing really big and can also be a voyeur too from the VIP up top.
I had a blast in April for PvD..given that it was Bree's bday and we had VIP..

+1 I don't understand all this fuss about Roxy. I never seen PVD there but I didn't like the venue at all when Armin played there. Needless to say Armin sucked balls there but still the venue wasn't that great for any big room DJ. I think all these little kids are just mad because Crobar doesn't let them bring their roller skates or something.

one plus of roxy is free seating for everyone, no need for vip status. all the couches along the side and back... and the main floor's just a lot bigger than crobar's. slightly better lighting too?

people are conflating the the length/quality of a dj's set with the the physical space. if pvd had been been dropping quality 6-hour sets at the bus depot up the block from the roxy, then you'd see a bunch of posts about how the bus depot rules.
any way you slice it, crobar is a proper club while roxy is a glorified roller rink (albeit one with good times and memories).

def for the space. PVD nights were the BEST for some reason. only EHHH for the others (i didnt like Armin at Roxy during 2003, Tiesto was ehh as well)
well glorified roller rink yes, but hey great parties have been held in other non-club venues so i didnt care about that (aka warehouses etc.) Arc wasnt exactly a superclub and that was AWESOME . Pros for Roxy: add in many places to sit as well as a chillout room, and no dress code enforced (unlike crobar where the dress code is unpredictable, where there are ppl who dont even know who the DJ is, and where the club prefers to cater to the VIP/bottle crowd.)

You see, house is a feeling that no one can understand really unless you're deep into the vibe of house. House is an uncontrollable desire to jack your body and as I told you before this is our house and our house music. pretty much what sal said...
@ roxy everyone is equal... no vip areas really...
its just one main dancefloor which imo is a perfect setup for trance/edm events.
there was seating everywhere... if you are tired... go to the sides and back to chillout, if you want to dance, walk 10 feet forward to the dancefloor. seriously... the way i look at edm events is all about going there to enjoy yourself, to dance, and to listen to the dj. and for me crobar's crowd and setup isn't really like that. too much space dedicated to vip and nowhere to sit at all
at ferry last week, i saw soooo many people just standing around trying to look pretty and not even dancing. sure everyone was pretty friendly and there were no fights, but c'mon the dancefloor looked dead for a lot of the night except for a few sections toward the front, sides.
crobar's lighting is also pretty bad in comparison.... and for ferry it was even worse. (those pod looking things that lower themselves weren't even on that night)
last but not least the sound system at roxy was kickin... especially in the middle of the dancefloor. i can honestly say i've never ever left that club with my ears ringing or uncomfortable at all.
pretty much all i'm saying is... i enjoy roxy better than crobar, but i'd probably like crobar a lot more if i was a VIP...
