BPMs don't matter.

you guys are right. i'm wrong.

now excuse me while i listen to some happy hardcore (never you mind that it's only 120 bpms) and drive to the record store in my sports car below (again, never you mind that it only reaches a top speed of 60 miles per hour and takes 30 seconds to go from 0-60. after all, it has a racing stripe and bucket seats.)

Idiot. The genre of the music is defined by its musical characteristics, not how fast it plays. If you pitched a gabba record at -16, it's still a gabba record.

like i said. your right and i'm wrong. after all, dance music really doesn't have to be danceable. 'musical characteristics' is what really matters.

What? The hell? 120BPM is still danceable. Hell, 80PBM is danceable.

lets see. you cant really define a whole genre with one track, as there are a bunch of subgenres, but if you overlook that, and allow some subgenres to count as independent ones, here's my list:

house: Frankie Knuckles - Tears
trance: Taste Experience - Summersault (Original Mix)
techno: Rhythim is Rhythim - Strings of Life (the ORIGINAL one)
electro: T. Raumschmiere - Monstertruckdriver
minimal: Plastikman - Snark (Villalobos Edit)
acid: Petter - Untitled Acid
progressive: Sander Kleinenberg - Venus & Mars (Original Mix)
tribal: Paul Jays - Spiritual Battery
ambient: Plastikman - Korridor

prolly missed a couple genres. skipped breaks because any track with a breakbeat pattern is breaks, so it doesn't really count IMO.

You didn't skip breaks, you just don't know what you're talking about. That's not Electro.

Minimal Techno: New Order - Blue Monday (Richie Hawtin Remix)

LOL. I don't know what it is, probably electroclash, but I know what it isn't, and that's Electro.
