The Halloween of the World Trade disaster (meaning, 1 month later), I went to a halloween party here in town. My most favorite costumes had to be the ones related to that subject:
1) a suicide bomber (who looked much more believable than the kid)
2) a CNN reporter
and...
3) a guy dressed in a baby blue satin burka w/white lace trim over the eyes (obviously hand made, cuz no self-respecting Muslim woman would wear those colors! ) and had a banner across his chest that read "Miss Afghanistan".

People need to lighten up and see the humor in bad taste. I wouldn't care if someone showed up in a Hitler or KKK outfit (altho that would have to be the ultimate in poor taste), as long as I knew they didn't really have those beliefs. Show up in a KKK outfit, and u may get an ass-whooping by every black man within a 10 mile radius tho, so be warned.

My own brother is a notorius murderer back where I'm from, and I dressed up like him 2 years in a row, even 1 month after the incident. Believe me, I'm not proud of what he did at all, but it was my way of dealing with it. Nor would I care if I ran into anyone else dressed like him. Granted, if my brother found out I dressed like him, he'd probably put me on his hit list next, but he won't get me b4 I get him.

Did u know that in Spain during Holy Week (Semana Santa) that Catholic brotherhoods all dressed in 'klan' outfit of varying colors parade thru the streets nightly, showing the various stations of the cross or something. Let me tell u, as a Jew, this really was a shocker the 1st night. The majority of the gifts I brought back for people were keychains & lollypops shaped like these 'kkk guys'. What a hoot!

The guys I saw in the white outfits even had the 'iron cross' looking emblem on the chest that the KKK wears too.

this is what inspired the klan's robes.... from the klan's web site

quote:
The Imperial Klans of America, Knights of the Ku Klux Klan has never used the Robe and Hood for the purpose of wrongdoing. In many old Christian ceremonies, as illustrated by the carrying of the Pastas in Spain, the hood was worn as a symbol of humility; of anonymity in doing good works. This was the conception the hood when the Klan was ably led by General Forrest, and this its true meaning for Klan members: dedication to our God, our nation, our race and our Klan Movement. In fact the motto for the Klan is "Not for self, but for others!"
