Dude, you are seriously wrong. So much technology (especially today's) has come from the Far and South East Asia that you can't even hold a candle to your argument (if you were referring to today's technology age).

And with regard to ancient technological advances, please pick up a history book and read about what came from the Middle and Far East Asia and South America.

I admit that things like the telephone, the assembly line (i.e. the industrial revolution) were based in the U.S. and Europe, but that alone does not make the world what it is today.

Ill admit that I was too narrow in scope in trying to make my point, and I'm not trying to reject such things as China's paper and medicine and mathematics from the arabic lands and chocolate from central america back in the day, but the point is after then European feudalism evolved into mercantilism and beyond, Europe ruled the scene and dictated what happened in the world, while the rest of the world stagnated.

Thanks to Europian colonization and trade that brought the light into the rest of the world, the world IS the way it is today. It's thanks to corporations, thanks to European capitalism and liberal democracy that we even able to have this conversation.

Also, Black History Month sounds retarded to me. All it's doing is placing blacks on a pedestal over everyone else. A woman that refused to vacate a bus seat a national hero? Please... I think is disgusting that more people know her name than the name of the person who put together the periodic table.

What about the rest of the minorities? Don't they deserve similar recognition? Or were asians or arabs never persecuted in North America? Where's Native American History Month?

Was there even slavery in Canada? I don't think so.

The world is much bigger than the United States, and it's far older than 400 years. It's time to cowboy the fuck up and let go of the past.

To clarify, Canada did in fact have slavery - it was abolished in the 1830s

Well said.

Blacks were not the ONLY people who suffered hardships throughout history, and endured slavery.

People need to get this through their heads!

Why don't we see a month in recognition of europeans or asians who were used as slaves?

And like you said, why is there no recognition for native peoples ... they were treated just as bad, if not worse than African/black people.

Double-standards suck.

Oh boy. A race thread. It will be a fucking miracle if this one doesn't get locked.

Food for thought:
Ever noticed how Blacks were persecuted for a few centuries, yet anti-Semitism has been prominent for thousands? Where's Jewish History month? Double standard at its best imo.

On topic:
The girls had a good idea, but once again overdid it and took it to the extreme. I mean, nothing wrong with being proud of who you are, but associating yourself with neo-Nazis is as nutty as associating yourself with feminits (and those women give the word 'nutty' a whole new definition). And Shawn Sugg is a fucking idiot. I'm White and I feel like beating the shit out of his White, worthless face with a black stick, just so it'll demean him more. Fuck, I'll dip my fist in black paint and beat him with that.

My little rant:
I too take pride that I am pure (to the best of my knowledge) Russian (ie. white). And no, I don't like Russell Peters' (I think it was him) prophesy that in a few decades we'll all be one brownish race. I don't like the thought that we will all be the same. With races, there's uniqueness, diversity of some sort. For example, this guy's Indian, he has a different culture from me. It makes him a more interesting person if he has some culture, or some specific background. The world will be a boring place if everyone's background is 'mixed'. The key comes not in making everyone the same, but respecting the differences.
