Ok, now for my official review now that I am home and rested:
What a night,
Seasunz opened up, I came in 10 mins after the doors opened and he was playing Rachel Starr - Till There Was You (Gabriel & Dresden fuffo 12 Step Mix). I thought this was kind of too upbeat for the time; I was going to give it my best thoughts and not let it ruin it for me. Between when I walked on and when Edgar v got on he played 4 or 5 tracks from TPOD2 not to mention most of the other tracks were up beat and non-progressive. I thought his choice of tracks to open a night up was poor. I couldn’t wait for Edgar V to get on. The crowd would sometimes get into the tracks and sometimes he would go more progressive, then it died. The sound system cut off twice on him so it could have had something to do with the bad display of DJing but I doubt it. I also noticed a lot of distortion coming from the whole setup and was praying it would not be like that the whole night. My guess was he was turning the knobs too far up because he did like to play with the knobs a lot, not just a little bit but every song he would act like the freaking bass knob was the coolest thing since the crossfader came out.
Finally Edgar V Got on and rescued what could have been a disaster, nice hard progressive stuff, it made me remember why I loved space so much. Crowd slowly getting into it more and more, the room got dark. The people were dancing and magically the sound was not distorted anymore. My friend we brought to space for the first time said the club sucked when she first walked in, but changed her opinion right when Edgar got on. It’s amazing what a DJ can do to make the club that much better. Way to go Edgar, if it was not for you my friend would have surely left before PVD got on. You set the mood and progressed the night to right where it should be when Paul came in.
Paul stepped up to the decks, hooked up his Serato board to one channel, waived as if he knew he was about to own the night. He got some good chants which I love to hear. I have read reviews saying it went no where and that it was awesome, I can see it could go both ways. I for one love the techy stuff so my opinion is that I loved almost all of PVDs set. Anything I could not ID was fantastic. The sound cut off once more for a good 5 mins and Paul stood there with a shrug. Well, no problem because someone who had just owned the decks got another chant and the music came back and he continued the unrelentless tearing up of club space. The sound was a lot louder than any other time I had been to space since WMC 2003. It seems some tweaking had been done recently and it was wonderful. So crisp so loud, and didn’t hurt my ears. This guy is number 1 and he deserves it. No one brings more energy to a club than the one and only Paul Van Dyk. He signed my TPOD2 CD sleeve and the night was solidified as a night in history.

George Acosta stood to the side as PVD unhooked his Serato and played two final encores. I thought it was very unprofessional to pull the Air horn while Paul was still on, it takes an Artist to know when the right moments to pull the horn and Acosta is by far no longer an Artist. I used to love seeing him live up until Fall 2003, he got cheesy and very annoying (selling promo cds in the middle of his set on the microphone at glow in dc). Acostas first tracks were good minus the few trainwrecks. Then came some “live” vocalist, lady if your going to lip synch make sure you know where you are supposed to “sing”. Apparently George Acosta liked the Train horns as much as he liked to trainwreck.

It got so annoying with him pulling on it that my head started to hurt. Between that, him holding his finger out with a “1”, him acting like he was the hottest DJ to hit club space, and his lip synching wonder of a singer….. I had to leave, I could no longer take it, I wished the terrace was open.
This specially made sign in MS paint was made for you Acosta

I am pretty sure I met Matthias and DJRelik, i got to meet more TAs one of these days. All in all it was still a great night for me, I took some pictures and some still shots from some videos and put them up. Also a few clips of sound to get IDed so enjoy. If someone wants to host some videos PM me, last time I hosted videos the TAs ate up 3 gigs of bandwidth within 24 hours.
