that's what i have noticed too.. i tried to "force" one of my friends into liking trance 5 or 6 years ago, without any success.. but then a few months ago, i listened to G&D's remix of Coldplay -Clocks (from one of G&D's Essential mixes) on my pc. -he heard it, and he did actually like it, and asked me if i had more music of more or less the same style.. so i just gave him some songs and remixes from Gabriel & Dresden(/Andain/Motorcycle)and Markus Schulz +some classics.. and a few weeks later he told me that he had become addicted to Chicane -Saltwater and a few weeks ago I heard him singing the lyrics in Deepsky -Talk Like A Stranger (Markus Schulz mix)..!
and yesterday at school, i took a quick look at one of my classmate's iTunes library.. this guy loves rock/metal/punk, so i got i bit shocked when i saw the name "Probspot" in his iTunes library! well i thought i saw "probspot" there, but when i looked closer i realized that it was "probot", not "probspot".. then he asked me what probspot sounded like, so i played "foreplay" for him, and he fell in love with it instantly!!!!! i gave him all the probspot stuff i have, and he spent the rest of the day listening to it!
in a way, I can see some similarities between probspot's works and the stuff this guy normally listends to.. it's hard to explain, but i have listened to some of his music, and i can clearly see a connection there.. so i think that's the "entrance key" to the world of EDM -you must find a connection between the stuff a person normally listens to, and some edm-songs.. and at the same time make that person forget those standard trance-stereotypes.. because after this guy had listened to all the probspot songs, he said: "wow, is this trance? seriously? and I thought i didn't like trance!!"
