I have been mixing using cds for years- long before any 'name' dj started using them or before any CDjs appeared. Those (and the twin denons) with .1% have been arond for donkeys and were the industry cd player standard long before cdjs even appeared.
Any 'top' dj would refuse because they have things called riders which specify the equipment they will use. If its not fulfilled they wont play. Nothing to do with no being able to- they could- but they wont because they are in a fortunate enough position to be able to dictate what equpiment they want.
If you look at the photos of Gatecrasher 2000 (millenium eve) in sheffield you will see one of thsoe exact same numarks in the console in front of paul oakenfold.

You can mix fine with .1 pitch. I still do sometimes and it is perfectly adequate for beat matching as long as you dont go off for a piss in the middle and expect to come back to it still being in sync.
Practice and stop making excuses. A bad workman blames his tools etc etc

I can mix fine with .1 pitch. But it wont stay in sync when locked for maybe 30 seconds...that's not enough time for me to mix smoothly without rushing myself .

I can get on some CDJ 1000's and be fine.

Why do you need to rush yourself? Make the correction then keep mixing. If you want to mix for 4 minutes then make 8 corrections. Hell that's how I mix on Technics, so why should it be any different with a CDJ.

The skill isn't setting the pitch perfect before you start on the mixer, the skill is being able to make corrections so well that nobody notices.

In that vid, what is the track that is being played at the start (and most of the way through) Any other tracks similar or like this?

Thanks for that.
Should have said in original post, does anyone know the 2nd track? I know its only a short clip but sure it can be I.D. from the unusual beat at the start.
