I'm as entitled to offer my opinion as anyone else here.
To answer your question: I'll have to look into that and get back to you.

I went to my last rave after eating some serious pot brownies and didn't really like the effects. I feel like the lights and the energy and late night sleep deprivation is more than enough to get into the sounds of a GOOD trance set.

it doesn't work like that. i can't speak for everyone but the feeling i get from listening to a good trance tune while straight & at home has improved alot since i started taking pills while clubbing. |
I'll agree with that.
I started listening to trance when I was about 13, and didn't drop until I was 19. I saw tiesto in Ibiza once when I was 18, and had an absolutely cracking time - no drugs involved, just buzzed off the atmosphere for hours.
However since I started taking beans and going raving a somewhat different, and arguably better feeling takes over. It's less effort to get there and that's where the argument that drug users don't go to raves for the music steps in.
Don't take drugs + An ok/poor set + little enthusiam = crap night
Don't take drugs + A good/amazing set + properly going for it = amazing night
Take drugs + An ok/poor set + little enthusiam = Good night
Take drugs + A good/amazing set + properly going for it = Amazing night
People who don't drop have to put in more effort to enjoy themselves, so arguably they are more committed, there more for the music than the experience.
IMO there are a hell of a lot of people out there who don't take drugs who enjoy nights out with their fave dj as much as me when I go out and do the same with the addition of chemicals.
And for the record, I love trance music, and the fact that I take certain things has no bearing on the fact that I go to these events for the DJs, for the music, and the atmos. As someone wisely said earlier, the Es just enhance that experience.
