Indeed in a recent interview he even played on those words when asked about his productions, saying he wasn't about making tracks using samples or effects, but based on the inspiration he gets when he hears a certain tune or melody.
hypothetically then, that means Traffic was inspired by Psychofuk... not actually ripping it off.

You would expect that a producer continues to progress and make better tunes yes, but thats not really the case in most examples i can think of.
I'd say you also have to consider the 'sound' that producer is trying to reach. Obviously that changes depending on current trends - and therefore is another variable in why Tijs' tracks for the past 3 years have been shitter than Mr Oizo meets Barbera Streisand.
Different producers peak at different times of their production careers i guess because they finally find their niche and make a fine track. Problem with most of the trancey producers around Tiesto's peak (read: Taucher, Stenzel, Tijs, Ferry etc) had their peak a flipping long time ago now. Producing their best work leads to greater exposure and more pressure to release things that wouldn't normally be deemed worthy.
I can't agree with anyone who argues (seen some other threads) that he pioneered the current tech-trance trends by releasing material like Traffic. Just Be and POTA albums are a humiliation not only to the long-serving fans of his, but also surely an embarassment to his former self. However, as above his over-exposure and situation made it quite easy to market this shit as a good product.
As he mentioned in an interview after or during TIC 2 HYPE, the tunes he made for the show itself, Magikal Circus, Eastern magik, Spastik, Loves We Lost, were put under the Allure alias so as not to be presented to clubbers/media/fans as "Tiesto.TM" tracks.
At the end of the day he has always been chasing bandwagons. Fortunately i can live with that and just get on with being a fan of his per se.

Not at all.. I think its a great track.
Originality could be questioned though. Its a splice of
a) Sienna - La Differenza (intro and outro beat sections)
b) Paula Cole - She Cant Feel Anything Anymore
sample here |
But nevertheless this spice can't be considered as original ? Isn't part of originality a new blend of sounds (even if SOME -not all- were used in other tracks also?)
I mean there are other producers outhere who use exact sounds and rhythm such as acid basslines, subtle leads etc and still offer quality.
Maybe i should say he used 2 formulas in a very original way

it's no surprise that he samples from other tracks. Some of the tracks hes done with Kirsty Hawkshaw were original tracks of her own beforehand for example.

I didn't mean in the small print... This single should be released as a remix.. its the same case as Adagio For Strings. (the group of people working behind) Tiesto has made a remix of a track... and they're going to market it as his own work.
Everyone had a lot to say about Adagio being remixed and pwned by Tiesto... so how come this one is OK despite being the same injustice.
