Trance is much less "big" then it was, unfortunatly euro-pop trance shit is still being pumped out and 99% of the public believe that is trance.

People confuse uplifiting trance with this euro filth, recent tunes such as Ferry Corsten - Fire (Flashover Mix) prove that the large trance sound of yester-year still can sound good now if you produce it right.

ive debated with myself about this question before and ive never been able to convince myself that trance is dying. and maybe house is growing, (i heard benny benassi on Burger King commercial) but like someone already said... many of the top 250 DJs are trance or trancy. if thats not enough 5 of the top 10 are trance (tiesto, ferry, armin, PVD, and ATB).

trance isnt dying, ill agree that its not quite as popular as it once was but that doesnt mean its dying!!

Yeah i know that there are alot of shite productions around at the moment, but there are also alot of good ones! Take Giuseppe Ottaviani - Linking People, absolute pice of art, I dont think a tracks given me goose bumps like that since i heard BT - Flaming June for the first time some 8 years ago.

I think the problem is people get far to engrossed i their own little pigeon hole. So what if trance isnt as popular as house or prog, its all damn good electronic music. I mean, i love trance and i would consider myself a proper tranceaddict, but this year at creamfeilds i spent a total of about half hour in the trance tent and saw some wicked sets from Fatboy Slim, Morillo, Seb Fontaine, Layo + Bushwacka, Timo Maas, Richie Hawtin etc and danced my ass off with loads of other people.

Stop worrying about exactly how popular trance is and just see it as part of dance music as a whole. You wanna start worrying when people start asking "Is EDM dead?"

I did have a very good point to make but i think it may have got lost in my drunken rambling

I have to agree, the same thing happens here in that it is loosing a lot of interest from main stream music, but this should only make trance music better. If it is not as whored out by those that don't understand it, then the quality of it is bound to increase.
