Is this different than ports being blacklisted/blocked?

I use ABC Torrent and Mixing Bowl (I think...or UKTA) blacklisted the default ports and a quick search lead to the whole 'port forwarding' issue.

All I did was change the port setting in ABC and I was fine to d/l. I changed NOTHING on my Linksys router settings (i.e. did not forward the ports)...this was also through Rogers in the DT core, no torrent issues, to my knowledge.

I've since (~2 months ago) moved to DSL (yay Beanfield! ) and haven't changed a thing either and ABC works fine with the same settings...?

I give up too. I can no longer download more than 1-2 kBs (well seeded torrent)!!! LOL

I mean, I've tried everything and read conflicting reports for why this is occuring lately from various Bit Torrent and DSL forums.

I think that if Roger's has implemented some method of filtering the BT content via header information then they would advise its users of this beforehand as they did recently by implementing Bandwidth Transfer Limits.

Funny thing is, I got the initial email from Roger's advising this but since then I have been well in excess of the limit each month (I assure you LOL) and I have never heard back from them in reference to being over this limit and / or having my account suspended or cancelled.

But I also assure you that if this situation is not resolved soon then I Man will cancel my account!!! LOL

I'm not paying fiddy bones a month for that!

Port Blacklist issue is totally different and very simple to resolve.
BitTorrent 6881 - 6889
stay away from the port numbers and you be ok.

and trickdadde have you tried having your port and as well as your client open through your windows firewall. providing your windows firwall is ON.

tru say man...i had enough of the rogers crap. ive read on dslreports and rbua that rogers has implemented packet shaping or w/e its called in certain areas. they install this device in the main boxes which control ur d/ling while using BT or any other p2p software.

hopefully this week, when i get my modem from bell, ill finaly be able to d/l normally like i did a year ago

To be connectable you need to open ports the application is using on a router also. I bittornado go to prefs and set up the ports you need (whatever number you want but more than 7000 thousand for example) Remember torrent is not like emule it uses a new port everytime you download a different application (bittornado atleast)
So open like ten ports or i dunno how many you need for example 8800 - 8810
And then open the same ports on your router and everything will be working fine

i'll give it a try when these downloads are done ... pray for me pls

traffic shaping... coming soon to a phub near you (if not already)

shitty times but it was inevitable - they been advertising high speed unlimited access for years but never really built a network designed to have a majority of users constantly down/upping 24/7

kinda like how everybody and their dog has a phone line but the actual phone network would grind to a halt if every single customer was on it making a call at the exact same time (depending on provider/area)

The highest i got to download at on a torrent was like 120 kbps (using videotron extreme high speed cable). Which I find slow as hell.
