Its a matter of choice and individual's taste. A lot depends on the music, ambience, mood etc.

Personally I'd say
AVB/Chicane > TIESTO/PVD

first of all photon project is a "them", not a "him"
second.. indeed one of the two "he"'s does produce for tiestor but he's not the only one (eg. check inlay booklet of 'just be' album, it states the name)

Someone should produce for PvD too. Maybe that way he'd stop using the same damn sounds he's been using for the last decade.

Definitely Tiesto. He's probably one of the top 10 music geniuses ever and the quality of his music has been consistant over the years.

Ok First off... If you do not realize that this thread was a joke, then you are the n00b that lacks experience!!

Second of all... I was in the Texas trance scene LONG before ya'll had your own forum (and before Matthias and Dave spun their first vinyl!) and had another account since 2002!! On top of that, you are a whole 6 Months ahead of this NEW account?!? Far from the grandfather of experience!!

Third... Before your TRY to flame, make sure you have the respect and reputation to follow it up!

Thanks and have a great day!!!

TIESTO FTW!!!

Paul van Dyk, although I do enjoy listening to a bit of Tiesto at times but Van Dyk has to be number 1 and all of his sets I listen are so much better than many of Tiestos.

paul van dyk originally but i like tiesto also. hard but it goes to pvd i just like some of his stuff better than tiesto. on the other hand i like tiesto energetic style he tries alot i think to get a crown reaction making the entertainment value good. dj's shouldnt try and lose it, not that pvd doesnt try to interact but tiesto shits over pvd in that entertainment context!

I find it quite funny that people cracked on with a discussion of this while loadsa people started prophasising flaming. Lol.

Anyway.

I've liked Tiesto for a while, and seen him a few times. The last time he knocked my socks off, absolutely amazing set. Beforehand he's been poor.

I've seen PvD live once and he... well... it was.. wow... it was good. However he did screw up monumentaly at one point. Although all of the other livesets I've heard have been pukka. So, in terms of live performances I'd say PvD. I'll get to check that in March when I go see him again.

Production wise Tiesto is extremely formiddable. He's done some incredible tracks, and his remixes almost always take over the original as "the" version of the song.

Adagio for strings is a nice tune. Very accessible for people just getting into trance, and the drop is a stonker on the dancefloor. Simple, yet effective. I like it. Others don't. Meh.

I've always puzzled over 643 however, because to me its shite. Hardly a melody in it. Just constant bom-bom-bom-bom, which drops into... more bom bom bom bom. It's not trance, its a bassline. But, opinions differ I suppose.

Anyway

Production - Tiesto
Live - PvD
