In addition to what Robert said, Serato has that DJ Feel because you use actual CDs or Vinyl. Ableton is just a computer software with no real DJ feel to it, and it uses a different approach to DJing. Ableton is also a powerful production too. To be able to do a set with Ableton, you need lots of preparation because you have to get your tracks organized way ahead of time. With Serato, it's just like using your normal set up. With serato you can keep mixing in and out of normal CDs/Vinyl and Serato. You can't do that with Ableton. Go ahead and download the free Ableton demo and give it a try.

I'm really curious why he made the switch
anywaone know??

Final Scratch 1.0 had so many glitches. It crashed, skipped, sounded like shit. When cueing records it sounded too electronic. You couldn't really SCRATCH either. It was a piece of shit software. I have it, and I stopped using it cuz it kept making me look bad.

Serato is STABLE, vinyl emulation is AMAZING. Serato is becoming the norm for computer mixing all over the west coast. Almost everywhere I go no, I see a Serato set up. Which is good, cuz you just show up with your laptop and BAM! You're set. I see this everywhere from small bars all the way to Avalon!

Woody thank for the information as well as Kristina, you both have sold me on the fact that i need to get rid of the old and get with the new. even though i won't play at a club or do not plan on becomming a DJ I feel I could have alot of fun with this.

Is Serato easy to use once set up and how long before you acutally feel comfortable with it?

It's a piece of cake. Once hooked up, it works just like any other vinyl. You'll get it in one minute.

I can testify to that, never played on serato before...in about 3 minutes over at woodys, was able to mix as good if not better than on normal cdjs! This program is a must for sure!

Serato and Final Sctratch are just made for people who secretly wanna use Ableton but either:

1. Are too dumb to figure it out.
2. Are scared.
