In addition to what Robert said, Serato has that DJ Feel because you use actual CDs or Vinyl. Ableton is just a computer software with no real DJ feel to it, and it uses a different approach to DJing. Ableton is also a powerful production too. To be able to do a set with Ableton, you need lots of preparation because you have to get your tracks organized way ahead of time. With Serato, it's just like using your normal set up. With serato you can keep mixing in and out of normal CDs/Vinyl and Serato. You can't do that with Ableton. Go ahead and download the free Ableton demo and give it a try.

WHY DID PVD STOP USING FINAL SCRATCH and why is he now using SERATO instead???
I'm really curious why he made the switch
anywaone know?? |
Final Scratch 1.0 had so many glitches. It crashed, skipped, sounded like shit. When cueing records it sounded too electronic. You couldn't really SCRATCH either. It was a piece of shit software. I have it, and I stopped using it cuz it kept making me look bad.
Serato is STABLE, vinyl emulation is AMAZING. Serato is becoming the norm for computer mixing all over the west coast. Almost everywhere I go no, I see a Serato set up. Which is good, cuz you just show up with your laptop and BAM! You're set. I see this everywhere from small bars all the way to Avalon!
