Maybe it's because I'm American, which I'll accept, but as far as vinyl synonyms -

Vinyl - check
Record - check
LP - check
12" - check
phonograph - check
disc - Never

CDs are more portable than vinyl. CDs can be recorded when you find a track that you like, as opposed to finding it in a record store or waiting for it to come online. If you don't have a record shop (which a lot of places in the US don't) and you hear a track that you want to use in your set that night, you can buy the download, burn the disc, and use it that day.

If your shit gets lost on a flight, like what happened to Desyn Masiello the last time I saw him, you have the ability to recreate most of your collection, rather than cancel a gig.

CDs don't melt or develop "pops" like vinyl after lots of play, and if they scratch, they can be replaced cheaply.

I guess these comments all point in the direction of greater flexibility when it comes to DJing, allowing people to work with more options, which is always a good thing.

TBH, I could hardly care less what someone uses. You could use cassette tapes or 8-tracks as long as the sound quality is good and you can mix them for all I care. It's mostly the vinyl purists who have a problem with this concept and end up making asses of themselves trying to prove their point, just like you did.

dude...your ignorance and retardedness just gets more obvious with each post you make about this. If you weren't probably 15 years old, I'd put you to bed on this issue. But since you are a youngster, I will give you a break.

For me, I have to use CD's because the tunes that we are given at the label aren't pressed to vinyl yet just about 99.9% of the time. Artists send me mp3's of their productions because it costs them nothing as far as postage, and I can get them instantly instead of waiting a week or more for a vinyl.

By the way....do you know exactly how much it costs to mass produce 5000 vinyl copies of a tune and then send them out for promo?

Do you? Really?

So before you begin to type some moronic response to me, take a moment and seriously think about how playing CD's is more of an advantage for some people because of business reasons. Unless you want to stay on your high horse and be Captain Vinyl Patriot.

Cd's skip and they can also melt. Vinyl develops pops if you scratch a record. Also, this goes back to what I said before. People just don't want to pay. You said it. It's cheaper. I see people just want the easy way out of not paying. Cutting corners. Shortcuts. But guess what and this is a fact of life? You can get by for the moment when you take a shortcut but eventually your shortcuts come back to bit you in the ass in some way.

oh god........

I'm done with this....it is pointless for me to argue with you....I'm not going to bring myself to your level.

Enjoy your hole.

First, of all the things I said, that's the only thing you could respond to? Do you work for the vinyl (the actual material vinyl) creating industry or something?? Seriously, what is wrong with you?? Why do you think that you should spend every last cent buying music? I'm glad you have nothing else in your life to spend money on, but most of us do. If you think that makes you better than everyone else, good for you. Whatever you have to tell yourself to make yourself happy. I personally like when things become cheaper, that way they can be used by a broader population who normally couldn't afford it.

Also, is the computer that you're typing on going to bite you in the ass because it cost less brand new than one from 15 years ago did?

That's nice. Maybe you should go to Cuba or China. Communist.

First, if you're going to quote me, use the quote button found down at the bottom right corner of my post.

Second, do you even understand what communism is? Obviously not, because communism has nothing to do with making products cheaper. Next time you try to insult someone, use words in your vocabulary that you actually understand.

That said, I'm done with this argument because you've obviously got such a skewed perception of reality that it doesn't matter anyhow. Some people are just morons and there's nothing that can be done about it. Enjoy your vinyl. While others do things like go out clubbing every weekend, take their girlfriends out for nice dinners, live in nice apartments/homes, AND listen to the same music on a different medium, you can always caress your vinyl and know that you have your priorities straight.

I known it's tough for the little guy to get his music out there by going the vinyl route. But if some one is really serious about there music and satified with it,they would pay for it somehow. Also, this filters out a lot of the garbage and the wannbes that shouldn't even be on vinyl.

-Artists should spend thousants of dollars pressing vinyl.
-Music should be restricted to physical formats.
-Djs should spent stupid prices paying for overseas shipping.
-All this technology that allows vinyl manipulation of digital music should be ignored.
This includes advanced cd players and timecode based systems.
-We should all spend 80$ getting ripped of for a single 12'' record.
-We should never use digital downloads like wave & mp3 files off beatport.

Why?

Because ''dj troa'' has spend too much money on records for the industry to convert to digital. This technology did not exist when ''dj troa'' stated djing & if this keeps going ''dj troa'' might not LOOK like the Dj he grew up looking up to.
In his stupid little head ''Djtroas'' image is far more important than the labels distribution budget.
''Djtroa'' is oldschool.
Who the hell is ''djtroa'' anyway?

I have been using only vinyl for many years and have serato scratch now and love it. I am going to be doing a lot of travelling and studying out of the country soon and want to have a way to bring my "records" ripped with me and keep up with new releases without a weight issue when travelling. The digital influence on djing opens an easier opportunity for me to play out original productions too which is very exciting. I love the feel of vinyl and w/ serato scratch you don't loose that one bit. It is a great investment.

I bought finalscratch 1.5 (Laptop: Windows XP, 1.3ghz Centrino, 512 RAM) about a year and a half ago. I got it super cheap and purchased it with the intent on toying with it and reselling it shortly after to make some money. About 2 months ago i started selling off every record i owned that i could buy in digital format or didnt care about. No more scratched vinyl that cant be replaced easily, no more getting warped records from overseas that i paid too much for in the first place, no more waiting for records in the mail... its a beautiful thing. Now when i move to Ireland this summer from the US, i can bring my entire music collection with me on my laptop and on a spindle of CDs for backup and maybee look for some gigs without having to ship all of my records over or start a new collection. I cant speak for the CD crowd, but they seem to have done alot of good in the hands of Holden, Zabiela, Morillo, Sander K... just to name a few.

But not the type of communist who should overpay for vinyl to support the "elite DJ" system, right? For 24 you are pretty big dumbass.
