Decided to buy it? No, it doesn't suit my needs. Yes, I have tried it. Here's why. For one thing, I already HAVE the Beyerdynamic DT831's (the best full sized cans that block out a decent amount of outside sound out there, for the most part...really awesome studio monitoring headphones), and, while they are not suitable for DJing (they are WAY too big) or uber-portable music listening (they need an amp), well, I have an amp for them, and I'm not against using them with my backpack... I use them for long car trips and such. Also, if I want isolation real portably, I'll just use my (cheap, lame-ass) Sony MDR-EX70LP inside-the-ear-canal canalphones. When I want to upgrade to something that is better than both, I will simply buy a set of Etymotic ER4P's.. Also, when I want an easy-to-drive headphone for computer gaming, I'll just plug in my (open, easy to drive) Sennheiser HD565's, which give better imaging than most anything I know of...
You see, I don't *need* the versatility of the V6's! Instead of buying one headphone to do it all, I bought a whooooolllleeee bunch of headphones and an amp, lol! Why did I do this? Well, the thing is, the first thing that got *me* big on headphones was the concept of "Soundstage" (sounds coming from a wide area around you) with the open-air Grado SR-60's... and, so, after that, when I wanted some isolation, I bought the single pair of closed headphones that doesn't have a closed in sound, that has a lot of soundstage-- the Beyerdynamic DT831's. Therefore, the V6's, while they have good imaging, are, after all, small, under-$100 closed headphones, and they aren't really made to give you the soundstaging that I have been spoiled with...
Meme4me, the thing with the HD600's is that they *NEED* an amp to perform well! I would VERY strongly suggest that you get a headphone for *your specific needs* rather than what is supposedly "the best". Figure out your needs, and then buy. Also, the V6's don't have a side swivel. They have an up and down swivel (the earcups can flip outward... rotating over the X axis, not the Y axis). The HD25's, however, have both swivels...
And besides! You are in Australia! You can get one headphone that is really nice, for real cheap. If you want a BIG HONKING HUGE FREAKING GIGANTIC headphone that is very open, comfortable, and easy to drive, get the Philips HP890 for $100 AUD. All other headphones in Australia are basically rediculously overpriced, except that one, which is rediculously underpriced...
