Such a great weekend. There are only a handful of djs that I'd do a double header for and Desyn certainly deserves it. Big thanks to nadezhda and Adrian... here's to the next roadtrip!
Friday - started the night off with some green drinks, great company and some tunes. We got into TIL by 11 and it was nice to see the place was already filling up. Brad had a solid opening set, really surprising me with some drummy house tunes near the send. This guy just keeps on getting better and better each time I hear him!
Desyn started shortly after 1 and I was solidly glued to the dancefloor from that point on. Smooth flow all night though I have to admit there were a few times where he lost me briefly. I don't know if it's because he was feeling under the weather or too much expectation for the night on my part but it wasn't quite what I was hoping for. Anyways, Desyn at 80% is still miles better than a lot of other djs so it was still a good night. Really surprised that he stopped at 4 and then left almost immediately after that. Just another sign that he wasn't feeling his best.
Brad came back on and ended the night in fine style. Lots of people stayed til the music died at 5:15. Very pleased that I lasted long enough to finally be able to close the place down.
Sat - roadtrip to Ottawa and it was non-stop Desyn listening all the way there (and back). Got into Helsinki just before 11 and it's such a tiny space! Cute club and I'm glad these promoters are bringing in great djs to expose the Ottawa scene to (Lee Burridge is there in a few weeks). A very mixed crowd, seemed to be scene- and not music-driven. Surface (the other Ottawa club) was having their re-opening the same night and most people left for there, so it was very strange indeed to see the place clearing out by 1. The opening dj was having technical difficulties and someone brought in another cdj so thankfully everything was set by the time Desyn started up by 12.
And holy, did he ever deliver!
Perfect tunes all night, beautiful flow... so much better than his Toronto set. He looked somewhat shocked by the club/crowd size and was even more pale/sickly looking. So no big surprise that he stopped at 3. But he did chat with a few fans after and was gracious as always.
*tune id* Killer last tune was by Paranoid Android (?) coming out soon on Alternative Route.

Desyn and Brad both played really well. I would've liked it if Desyn played six hours (like i heard originally), but for the time he was on, it was rediculously good. First time in a while that i've enjoyed the majority of tunes played at a club. Brad's closing set was awesome... his first track was "Fragile" (Chris Lake Remix), something i've had in my rotation for sometime.... it was a good way to take over and finish!
Thanks to Sean Cassidy for the g-list hookup, I cant say it enough, when you come through and deliver promises as a promoter, it earns you massive respect. Cheers.
