and ABT, i didn't say the said line WAS offensive, i just merely stated that i thought it would be the most precieved as offensive.. i am very much aware of the openess of the lyrics.. nobody can say wheter or not the lyrics are offensive, because that is an opinional statement. you can say wheter or not you THINK they are.. so you can't really say it's NOT offensive, because there are people that may think otherwise.

ok, as far as opinions go, mine is as follows: no offense here, i am a VERY liberal person. accepting and understanding are two virtues that i hold very highly. i think that even if Marco V is stabbing at "god" (in quotes because it is no specific god) thats his own deal and one person should not be troubled with the actions/opinions of others. yes, in his situation he has the power to influence and anger, but still, (in accordance to a previous quote) music is art! its like the african painting of the virgin mary with elephand dung as a breast. unfortunately, all the close-minded critics took it as a slandering of the christian religion, but what they neglected ot understand is the fact that that elephan dung is the "lifeblood" of the african culture. they make everything from it, just as jesus was fed from mary's breat, africa is "fed" from elephant dung. this is just a parallel to another situation where improper interpritation caused a HUGE controversy that should not have existed. the artist used this media to symbolize, not slander.

IMO people should not be consumed with trivial situations like this, but not everyone shares this opinion and take these song lyrics as a real statement of some sort.. i think that there is no offense intended and really none to be taken, i am religious and i dont see much in this song.. theyre just lyrics!

BTW, i love how somehow logic is in this thread.. i just finished physics and we did a bit of logical engineering with AND, OR, NOT, NAND, NOR gates and whatnot.. PRACTICAL USES RULE!

hmm...i hope people offended by G.O.D.D. don't listen to Rap, Rock, Country, Blues, Jazz, Opera, man signing in shower, or any other music with words in it besides Christian Rock.

Even if he said, "God sucks!" i don't see why he should be offended. I'm agnostic, and if someone says, "God rocks, you are going to hell." I'm not offended, it's their oppinion. It's when they say "You're a bad person" that i'm offended, and I don't think G.O.D.D. is insulting anyone!

Not everyone knows that the song is called Godd. nor does anyone know the song by heart the vocals like us TA's. When someone goes to a club and hears it. They take it as "GOD". Thats when someone who doesnt know the song might get offensive. And then another damaging point was brought up by another TA when the vocals say "Or do u believe in me" when someone first hears this they will have some problems with this song. I personally love this song. i have nothing against this track. i cant wait till i buy the record. but theres my point where someone...like me got offended when i FIRST heard it. the vocals were pretty fast and the vocals seemed a vicious blow to "GOD's" name. I couldnt understand what was she saying though but what every the vocals were saying i picked up all the Negatives from the song. so i can understand when someone gets offended!

Don't overlook the operative word here.
