Fuck genres.

Psy has been the leading trance genre for years as far as innovation goes, but now it's unfortunately growing tired. The FUTURE is the new progressive sound that's come out of psy.. Iboga Records, Digital Structures, Tribal Vision.

Stop looking for answers, let go of the commercial shit and their poser DJ's and join the real trance movement that is happening just under the surface across the entire globe. Waiting for psy to become commercial enough to 'be the next big thing' is completely missing the point.

Thank god someone actually gets it.

This thread is a bit of a laugh really and kinda shows why psy isnt the future... well the future of 'trance' really. Most trance lovers dont get psy and rightfully so. Its unpredictable, erratic and psychedelic which is why most psy fans enjoy it. In contrast, trance is predictable, polished and contrived. Total opposites really. Besides, psy needs to be experienced in the right context and the right location and (no shit!!)... on the right drugs.

If you've experienced it, then you know what I'm saying... if you havnt... then it probably sound like horseshit. Fact is though, the hippies that started the movement had a plan and, even though its quite diluted, that plan is still in effect today at good psy parties. The music is an addition to the party and not the total focus. So how could that same music be the future of something else, when it is so closely tied to its own culture and future?! Take psy out of context and your missing the point entirely.

So yeah, unless the commercial trance population is suddenly going to start dropping acid en-masse and start exploring the inner self through 48 hour trance journeys, then I really cant see it becoming the 'future' of 'trance'

Can you expand on this?

I'm honestly wondering if people who make these claims can back it up with examples without referring to the 1 or 2% of commercial psy that comes out of Israel these days. (I'm talking about GMS, Astrix, Skazi and the Phonokol and Homegga's etc..)

If you can show me for example how dark psy (eg: Dissociative, Naked Tourist) or twisted full-on (eg: Shift, Artifakt) has grown tired of late, I'll try and counter it with examples. Not trying to be a fuckwit, just really trying to assess what music these sorts of opinions are based on?!

Hurr0z julez mou!

As for psy being the future... On the commercial front and by that I mean the clubbing scene I definitely dont think that people would get into it... Its a little bit too out there for most people ( myself / yourself excluded obviously ). Theres some fucking awesome psy out there but it seems that most of the n00blahz out there want to listen to music that Mary Poppins would rawwwk to...

Who n0se mangz : /
