My run down.............
I had a wicked time Naz was kind enough to escort me so I had a peartner in crime to party with which was awesome!!! We arrived at Atlantis shortly after 9:30 and it was already busy but in a very weird way. They had the booth set up on the weat wall where they used to have the bball hoop when the clubs was Marrs and they had that kicking hip hop thursday - wow am I antiquated or what??? Anyways.
People were sitting on the steps that separtated the front and the back of the bar/lounge. No one on the dancefloor - I felt like I was back at Friday morning assembly in high school.
I decided screw it I am having a good time and the "i'm too cool to do anything poser crew" can stay where they are. The night just got better and better - Tazix played stuff I hadn't heard in a long time - Ilo "rapture" to name one - but it was nostaglic in a good way. Made me reminisce to the good old days lol!!!!
KT was magic. His hair was not. (IMO) I was able to shake his hand and thank him for coming - he threw down quality really danceable funky techy goodness. AND AT A DECENT SPEED!!!! I was in heaven. His mixing for the most part was really solid, he is a good programmer and actually entertaining to watch. He totally exceeded any expectations I had of him.
Then my Oakie came on............for those of you who know me - you know I am slightly Oakenfold obsessed. It is sad yes, but I am open about it. After seeing him play at least 7 times I have gathered this much about him - never go expecting him to be brilliant - go and expect good music. He was on last night more than I have seen him in a long time. Ture KT's set was technically better but it is really like comparing apples and oranges - both fruit but totally different. Oakie was engaged - not the coked up deer in the headlights man I saw at Crave - but the funny, charming passionate one I met during the Bukka tour. OH MY GOD THE HAIR!!!! It made me think of that sunsilk commercial - You know - BLUE FOR POOFY HAIR
Hair jokes aside he played better than I expected - opened with something that knocked the breath out of me. Yeah yeah he played "faster kill" which I actually love and Southern Sun - which I abhor. And then it was done............at 1:30pm. No encore, nothing - really weird.
I would have liked to know wtf happenned but lord knows.
Thank you to twisted/cargo - I really thought you guys did a supurb job - I love Atlantis. Why doesn't it get used more? It is an amazing venue.

- Mirk
