Both in this world cup and the last one, you can hardly pick another team that played as passionate and as graceful as the Korean. You could even complain about the results, but certainly, that's what mattered the least when they were in the field.

what do you exactly mean with passionate and graceful, and what does it have to do with quality on the field?

cause in this cup "only" Brazil, Germany, Holland, Argentina, France, Italy, Portugal, Czech, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Switzerland, Spain, Australia, Sweden, England were clearly better than the koreans.

i know you cheer for them, and can understand the bias, just being rational here

Simply put, they were not the favourites, nor they're a country with much tradition in football, and they knew that. Therefore, they didn't have that feeling that "they're good already" and they knew they'd have to play a lot better than usual in order to advance. And they did. You could clearly see the passion in their eyes (and in the eyes of their fans). Their "omgwtfbbq" attitude was something that really caught me. That was the grace I wanted to see - quality, to me, little has to do with results... I want to see people giving their best, that's all.

Brazil has already that "favourite" status, and their matches (with the exception of Brazil vs. Japan) weren't that exciting, specially when people expected them to win already. I'd say Australia was pretty impressive though, whereas both African teams you mentioned were just too violent, I didn't like that. Same for Italy, that game against the US was pathetic.

I don't want to turn this post into a exhaustive list, but I think I explained why Korea was blatantly my favourite team in this world cup.

It's perfectly fine to have favourites. It's just that a while again you were talking about them as the "best", which is a whole different thing.

Given the fact that being "the best" is a subjective quality, I can say they're the best - as long as my concept of "good" doesn't involve any requirement that they don't fullfil

best is a very subjective word in many matters.. but IMO in the context of a competition it can only mean the one who wins, or the one who looks most capable of winning

i went to this world cup stadium in seoul, korea.
the air was vibrant and people were so excited. i mean 60,000 ppl in this stadium cheered from 9 pm to 6 am. and god, there were so many hot girls. too bad there wasn't a goal from the koreans. i was expecting some chicks to go crazy hehe oh well..

as for the game, the referee was indeed shit. not because i think he was biased towards swiss, but simply because he made shitty calls to both sides during the whole game. and what the hell is with this guy, i think he gave out like a million yellow cards. i think koreans now feel what italy felt 4 years ago hehe. and also, swiss is going to have a hard time with all the yellows they have. how will that help swiss on their next game?? which all sums up to my original point. damn stupid referee.

i think koreans were just disappointed because korea's attack revived during the second half. swiss dominated most of the ground in first half, but korea was doing a lot better in the second half. there were calls that were controvercial to both sides, but korea had more unfair calls koreans were indeed pissed off about the second goal, but for quite a few of us, it wasn't just the goal that the referee gave to swiss, but also the will to go on. at 1:0 which both sides bombarding each other with good attacks, many koreans felt that with some luck we might even tie.

i mean anyone who watched the game knew that both the swiss and koreans had great chances for some goals. no matter how much europe generally hate the korean team, koreans fought well. we knew that france and swiss were going to be great, but korea gave em hell for each game im damn proud of korea's football team.

and the one thing i dont like with this whole situation is that, some people are just too angry about the whole thing, its not a war, you dont have to hate each other and their teams just cause of football. i hate how people's attitude towards each other is mindlessly offensive, vulgar, and disrespectful.

if i saw right, korean players kept their integrity even after the game. do you remember italy and spain? most of them didn't even shake hands and just left the game. oh well, we have better sportsmanship than 'some' european teams, and thats something i guess would be nice to see from some ppl in this forum.
