I havent been this musically satisfied at the Guv in sometime. I hope they bring Zabiela back real soon.

Hmm.. ok, I'm at work, which means I finally am bored enough to type this thang out:

When we were driving up to Guv, there was a shitload of people outside on Queens Quay, even kids and shit, anyone know why? We got to Gallery just after 12, and I was surprised to find it completely empty (save for 5 people) considering the lineups that were outside Guv. Chilled in there till they opened the doors to Guv, which happened around 12:40 (and lol @ at cribby's text about them closing the doors again later).

The whole time before Zabiela started we were (me and Sasha) outside on the patio, breathing in that nice second hand smoke. Wasn't really impressed with what Oliver was playin in Guv at that time, so the patio looked like a better alternative. Besides, met Plump Funk, Infinity High, LKD, Abercrombie, and Shaya there, so it was all good. As soon as they announced that Zabiela was coming on, I was inside, right upfront of the DJ booth.

Here, my 6'4" height finally paid off as even though I was standing in 3rd or 2nd row, I could see everything that Zabiela was doing. Overall, I really liked his set. It didn't quite convert me to House, but it did have me going dancing nonstop throughout the whole thing. Loved the Trance-ish builds that he put here and there in it (lol, leave it to me to love the Trance elements of a House set). His set flowed nicely, with nice, hard, stomping beats. He's definitely a master with the decks/mixer/FX, but at times it just felt like he was trying to outdo himself with the special effects, and it ended up just sounding weird. Side note: what I found kinda weird was that until like 3am, the crowd up on the stage was completely dead - no one was moving at all, while down in front of Zabiela people were going insane. Ususally up on the stage are the TAs dancing the hardest while down on the dancefloor it's the cracked out Asians swaying from side to side.

After he finished I went back to the Gallery, and finally took a nice long rest from the damage Zabiela did to my neck and feet. Around 5:30am got up to dance to the rest of Sydney's set. Twas good, but I still like Trance more (and Breaks, and DNB, and Techno). It was nice and grooveish, but nowhere near as bumping as the stuff Zabiela was pumping out.

Overall, had a good time at the Guv, but conversion was unsuccessful.

P.S. Nathan9000, I just now realise I was behind you (gah, mind out of the gutter) the whole Zabiela set. I recognize your Richie-Hawtin hairstyle. You're an addition to the tall peeps, I see.

had an AMAZING nite at the guv...got there around 11;30 and stayed in the gallery with the maria and mada until James got on..

James was GRAND!!! luv seeing this guy perform ... Have to say this was ALMOST as awesome as seeing him at The Cross in London last year!!! ...p.s. Peter & Peri...great seeing you guys...good times

Finally got back to michigan and I still can't stop thinkin bout that party. Some TAs I remember meeting were Sasha, EndlessWave, 2famous4u, sticky_shoes, jojo_k, and nice to see LKD again. Porky and asha thanks for a great time, I really hope I can come up and party with you guys again before I move. Btw porky, the dude in your picture is "weirder science" ... Weird science was the less weird one
