Geez... I can't believe this thread has veered way of course. I totally thought Dima was being sarcastic with his crazy statement. You can't come to that conclusion, including selective quotes and articles from here and there. That's as stupid as just because Howard Stern is and calls himself "The King of all Media", you can't take that and conclude that Jews control the media. It's just as rediculous. I don't care to read any more examples, we're in a new century now.
The UN is keeping its distance for many reasons. They are a united front. The countries the UN represents have mixed feelings in this situation. Many arab states for the first time are siding with Israel (by not siding with with Hezbollah, or if you just prefer, not siding with Hezbollah).
It is very lucid worldwide, that Hezbollah started this war, and started with very obvious intention to escalate this to where it is now. The world has seen what happened when Hamas was behind the kidnapping of Gilad Shalit, for the purpose of extorting Israel for the return of thousands of prisoners. Hezbollah saw this as their opportunity. So they did the same, and there you have it. They did this upon themselves, fully intentionally. Unfortunately their plan is backfiring, and are not getting the sympathy nor support of the world they were hoping for. I've been to southern Lebanon, and saw the control they have over its people. The Lebanese army has virtually no presence in southern Lebanon, it's all Hezbollah, and they pledge for the total destruction of Israel. It's a religious army, "Army of God" is what Hezbollah means, and Jews are their enemy no matter what.
The Lebanese army are not helping Hezbollah at all. They don't like them either.
No peaceful army or militia that is part of a country's government, goes into another country, kidnaps and holds him/her prisoner for extortion (soldiers or not).
I feel for for all my Lebanese friends and family in the middle east. My heart goes to all of them, and hope this confrontation ends soon, for all of mankind's sake.
