dude, seriously, shut the f up. when the hell did you start bashing paul? you used to be the biggest PVD WHORE out there and now you are bashing him left and right. so you caught his set at spirits and he went prog with it, who cares. the man is a god, and you had better jump on the progressive bandwagon or you are going to get left behind talking about how breathing is the best track ever made and everything else is shit.
paul is god, bring on the prog. i'll see all the real PvD fans there. |
Spirits was an epic disaster. Then WMC, I was destroyed out of my mind and yet he took 2 hours to pick up the pace, and even then, when it DID pick up, he still played some ham and egger crap. Crush (Vandit club mix) Twice? GET REAL. His sets have been absolute garbage this year to me and that's just where I stand, hence why I have a new #1 favorite who has been doing nothing but impress me everytime.
Fuck the prog bandwagon too. As I've said time and time again, too much prog puts me to sleep, which has happened many a time at a certain little venue I won't mention.
And Breathing isn't the best song of all time now....
...now it's Brairwave.
For me, I will always be a PVD whore, circa 1999 - 2005.
This year, 2006, can fuck itself in the cornhole.

totally agree with DA...PVD sets have been pretty crappy as far as Miami is concerned...but he did tear up the terrace nasty when he was at space the last time.

There is a lot of PVD hating going on here. But some of the criticim is actually warranted as PVD did leave his A-game at home on 2 consecutive visits to South Florida (Spirits 1/06 and Space WMC/MMC 06). At Sprits he played way too commercial and had no energy/flow to his set, and at WMC/MMC he actually repeated part of his set among other issues. (maybe that little computer Djing thing is not such a great idea).
But lets not forget that he redeemed himself beautifully last time at Space.
I for one will not miss PVD if he comes to Miami. I will take whatever trance I can get down here, as such events are way too few and far between. I will take PVD any day over what we get week-in and week out in Miami, which includes DJs like Oscar G, Cedric, Ivano, Roland, and [insert house DJ name of your choice here].
PVD has done a lot to keep trance going, and God knows it is on life support in this city. Instead of fighting over whether you agree with every single song he plays, every single mix he did, every single style of music he plays, etc, etc, etc, everyone needs to remember what you go out for, to have a good time. So go out to trance events like PVD, support the music and scene you claim to like, have a drink and a smile, and a good time - and quit complaining so much.

I see your point. He has done alot, and I still personally like him. Its that his style has changed so much and that abelton or what ever the fuck he is using is messing him up as hell as his track selections lately..He is trance...He hasnt played real trance since late 2005 and that gid at space.
Im disappointed

Ok, I will say that I haven’t seen Paul live since, well I don't even know. Probably since the last time I was at space with Brent or wmc 05. However, I did hear (from people who enjoy the same style that I do) that his set at spirits was awesome. Probably not the typical pvd, but that’s a good thing. DJs now days HAVE TO be progressive, they have to keep moving forward to keep the music moving forward. This is what progressive is all about.
Progressive music (IMO) is nothing more than the blending of different sub-genres. Its not house, its not trance, its not breaks, its just prog. Isn’t that what we want? Don’t we want the music to keep moving forward, for our scene to continue to stay original and unique?
I know this is "tranceaddict" and I do still love trance, but you have to admit that there really haven’t been any real breakthrough tracks in the last few years. It’s all starting to sound the same, and it’s getting very boring. So if you are a DJ, why not do something different, do something to keep people interested? How do you do that, you progress.
Progressive is not the future, it is the present, and will remain that way. Because in the end, that’s what its all about. At some point, its all been done before, and what then? You have to make it progress. You have to keep it moving forward. You have to keep pushing the limits and keep yourself out on the fringe or the music will simply die.
