Ontario Insurance Service is a broker.... also owned by Aviva.
Aviva owns the following insurers.... General Accident, Canadian General, Traders General, GAN, Scottish and York, Elite, Pilot, Ontario Teachers Insurance Plan (I think that's it). They underwrite PC Insurance. Aviva is owned in whole by Norwich Union.
Most of the big insurers are owned by other big insurers. ING owns Halifax, Dominion of Canada, Allianz, Zurich (commercial lines), Belair Direct, Nordic, Royal & Sun Alliance and underwrites Meloch Monnex which underwrites TD Insurance.
Economical owns Economical Mutual, Waterloo Insurance, Perth Insurance, Federation, and Missisquoi.
Fairfax Financial owns Northbridge which owns Lombard Canada, Trafalger, Commenwelth, Federated, and Markel.
I'm sure I've forgotten some and Chemy will probably add to this later. |
Hmmm...
Actually...Aviva Plc (parent company in UK) = Norwich Union
GA bought off CG and GAN, then NU bought them off so that mess (or merger...haha) became CGU = Aviva
Anyways..you're right, OIS is a brokerage...hmmm...and as you know Aviva recently bought off Pilot...
Which insurance company do you work for Moral? Maybe you can hook up me with the best quote...haha...
I'm working for the summer @ Pilot (comm. auto) and worked for finance/acct. @ Aviva... The insurance industry is interesting...but not my cup of tea
