paul van dyk DOES spins german hardtrance..
if you look at his rosenmontags rave set the first tune is a pretty banging hardtrance track (Junk Project - Braintool), also Starsplash - China Lounge in the middle of the set, actually this tune sounds like Cosmic Gate.

Facts:

PVD = usually banging sets, full of energy and emotional peaks, with seamelessly mixing, he does not lets the energy to come down frome one toune to the other, he mixes the next one from exactly the point of comedown from the last climax. stupid to say other DJ that mixes like PVD is George Acosta thats why I love them, while not exactly the same kind of trance but their sets are full of energy, NOT boring. They BOTH know how to mix and they BOTH know how to bring next tune on the set without bringin down that energy on the transition.

Tiesto = usually lately spins lots of deep progressive stuff that makes his sets boring from time to time

for me no one equals PVD..

I'd like to make a point here..

With me Paul van Dyk & Tiesto are extreamly different. I couldnt even compare the two, Paul & Tiesto have totally different styles than eachother. For me, Tiesto doesnt really do it for me. I am not saying that he sucks, or that he is overated, I am just saying that if I had to go see on of them live at the same time and had to choose, my choice would be Paul. Tiesto is good because he is very fun and kinda, party's with the crowd. Although, I dont find anything being "unique" in his sets. I'm sure people would feel the same about Paul.

All in all there both great at what they do, they both keep people like us listening and enjoying trance. Therefor there is no competition. But in a couple of days I will be seeing both on the same day and I will take the expierience, anylize it, and reply again.

Regards,
- Jay

I agree that George Acosta isn't boring.
PvD, however, does bore me.
I found both his liveset @ Washington, DC and "Politics of Dancing" rather dull, from the point of view of having a memorable and melodic experience.

PvD is without a doubt one of the greatest mixers of all-time. However, that doesn't mean Tiesto can't spin. I think he does a pretty kick ass job, and I prefer his track selection to PvD's on most occasions.

Try Green Velvet - La La Land (Zzino vs Filterheadz remix)
It rocks...
But I agree, Krone remix isn't very good

For you maybe yes, but you're not alone on the planet so why should he be the best
Eeryone has other tastes so... --> THERE IS NO BEST!

does anyone remember pvd at mayday 2001?

If you do you'll know that he isn't perfect.
That set sucked and so did the mixing

For me its very hard to say which I like best. Being in a boring part of the US im used to listening to trance almost exclusively at my computer, car, etc... mp3 mixes and CDs. For me Tiesto presents a more enjoyable listening experience but PvD is a CLOOOOOOSE second. Its a hard call = ). From what I have heard via livesets though I think PvD would win me over if I had the chance to see him.
