Purple, I don't think it is a matter of "who instigates first" because obviously, somewhere along the line, ONE or BOTH of you started an opposition to the other a while back, and that has egged you both on to get the "last shot" in.

The reason why people are against you in this, is because of the tactic in which you are using to "fight". Trying to turn people against someone because of their appearance is extremely shallow, cowardly, and immature. In my opinion, this attitude that you 'are better' than him 'because you aren't' what you deem "ugly" is just as bad as someone who is sexist or racist. You are discriminating on something that he is unable to really change.

Until you are able to deal with altercations intellectually, I suggest you go somewhere else where this kind of behaviour is accepted. I can promise you that you will not be on the good side of anyone here, and they will make your TA experience as miserable as they can until you make an obvious effort to right what you did. That isn't a threat. That is a testimony from what I have seen happen before, and as we know, history repeats itself.
