yes, documentaries are an incredible source of information, but you don't need to jump on a crocodile, stick your head in its mouth, and poke it in the eye with a stick to learn that its teeth are sharp.

respect to the guy for loving animals and being truly committed to the environment (though he chose conservation over preservation), but he took uneccessary and foolhardy risks.

anyone who works with feral animals is in some degree of danger, but certain people, for reasons ranging from over-the-top exhuberance (irwin) to their own pathologies (timothy treadwell), increase the danger exponentially. [go watch "grizzly man" the documentary about the bear-loving treadwell who was mauled to death, along with his girlfriend, by the subjects he so admired]

and as for roy who was attacked by the tiger in vegas: you force a tiger to ride tricycles in a funny hat around a casino and sooner or later you're gonna have probs...

Couldnt agree more.

Your comparison here has no reference to stingrays and is completely retarded. Stingsrays are considered non-lethal animals and to reference them against deadly fires and firearms is irrelevant.

There's a reason why stingrays are in the petting areas of aquariums and what not. If you saw a stingray in the ocean, would you naturally be afraid of it in comparison to that of a...shark? I don't think so.

Well when you come up with a better way to move crocs away from humans and back into their natural habitat I'm sure they would like to hear about it......

That's because I was not referring them to Sting Rays or any other animal for that matter. My comments were directed torwards what he was saying about..."Animals are dangerous so leave them alone." Sorry but that's not a good enough reason.

when i said leave them alone i meant how would you like it if some greater species came into your house and started poking you in the head to evoke some sort of reaction from you...which is what irwin did.

but seriously, you think those animals gave a shit after he put them back?
they wouldnt be like "damn that ****** just picked me up. i didnt like that. im going to remeber this guy for next time and make sure i get out of his way"

more like:
"unusual situation. fight/flight. ok back on ground. where's food?"

Damn that Steven Irwin for picking up the kangaroo that got itself all tangled up in a fence and would have died if left there. Damn him again for jumping up on that croc and relocating it back into the wild instead of leaving him in that persons back yard where it probably would have killed someone or gotten hit by a car. Damn him for doing the same thing to a snake that could have been in the same situation as that croc.

Honestly, did you ever watch the damn show and see what he does and why he does it?
