i would disagree. they all sound the same is more like it. trance especially. you have heard all these "classics" a million time because those are the ones that have been hammered until death.
what about the ones that have been forgotten but were still made some time ago?
classics are inspiration to a massive part of dj'ing and producing today, they could only wish they could bring a crowd to their knees like when their favorite dj did to them sometime in the 90's era |
exaaaactly WHAT I was thinking!
Classics... they are the best. I love re-living moments like those! Plus there is soooo much quality material that was released in the golden years. I mean, the amount of stuff actually played and actually released pales in comparisson. Especially when you venture out of the 'trancier' anthems. Some really great techno, that even big trance names played ocasionally.
And as far as the basslines go, I don't actually like em' as thick as they are now. A lot of times (at least on crappy systems), they can't handle it, and the tracks ends up being distorted because your ears are tired half way through the set.
For me... I really enjoy the not 'so perfect' elements of the track, (so long as it's not incredibly noticable). It gives it character! e.g. Rising Star – Star Theme (Thank God For Music). Now a days someone plays an intro like that, and they are labled as a cheesemonger. Classics remind me how much, and just WHY I love EDM. It's historical journey.
My wishlist;
Flaming June, sasha - ohmna, Tenshi, 7 Cities, gaia - 4 elements, gus gus - purple (sasha vs. the light mix)
Classics = lots of feel good music
