You surprise me.
So what would be your top-10 tracks from Orbital?

+1
Being an "elite" Orbital fan supposedly means developping a higher taste than the simple, dull Halcyon+On+On can satisfy.
The track is damn good, and is a masterpiece - no matter if you've just heard of Orbital of you've been an avid of them ever since they started producing.

Surprising? Alrighty then, i guess it's something like this but not in any order except for Belfast which is my Orbital fav by far and has been that for me ever since '91 when i first heard it:
Belfast
The Girl With The Sun In Her Head
Impact
Satan (Original '90 Mix)
Midnight
Forever
Times Fly (Fast)
Lush 3.1
One Perfect Sunrise (Phil Hartnoll Mix)
Are We Here? (Who Are They?)
Would've put more but top10 can only fit 10 so..

You still surprise me
I have heard most of the tracks mentioned in the two top-10 lists above and can definitely say that none (except maybe 'one perfect sunrise') have sounded as memorable as 'Halcyon & On & On' as far as i am concerned.
I am definitely gonna hear them again tonite to see if i missed something or is it just a case of different taste.

I'd say the latter. I've been an Orbital fan since they started and i don't concider Halcyon + On + On being anything too special compared to about half of their discography myself.

It's alright. I wouldn't have been surprised if someone had just mentioned that Halcyon & On & On is not his favourite Orbital track. It's just the mention of it not even being the top-10 tracks from Orbital was a bit hard to accept.
Nonetheless, i don't discount that different things appeal to different people.
As for Halcyon + On + On, it may not really have been a very special track as far as the actual production efforts go - it's quite simplistic in that sense. I just feel that it's simplistic progression evokes strong emotions, to some atleast. I must admit that "One perfect sunrise" has almost the same effects on me.

Yes i know exactly what you mean and i do know why Halcyon + On + On is so much liked track as it is. For me it just doesn't have quite as big appeal as for many others. I still do like it alot even if overall i prefer the original Halcyon over the remade version. I think Belfast is to me what Halcyon + On + On is to others, i relate strong emotions to it probably because it always brings back many wonderful memories from loooooooong ago.
