say no to cheese. fine, you can bend your tastes a bit, but make sure to NEVER play something you are ashamed of. why you ask?
well, in a club of 800 people, say there are 5 people who actually know about music. possibly DJs themselves. i'd never play a track i'd have trouble admitting to them i played. specially, because that'd probably mean i'd have trouble respecting myself after playing it
i mean, when we go to clubs, we complain about cheese. and we praise the non-cheesers. try as best you can to get everyone to dance, specially the women, but don't spin a set that if you heard it yourself by someone else, you'd criticize it. it's a compromise i guess.

just an update to all who are still interested in this thread...
there's good news and bad news.
the BAD NEWS:
so I've been trying to get the promoter who "hooked me up" to take me down to check out the sound system and talk to the owner and the guys involved with this whole thing and he's being very sketchy lately so i took things in my own hands and went down myself and introduced myself to the bartender who was there yesterday. turns out this guy is the actual owner of the place and is no russian sketchball. in fact the guy didnt even recognize the names of the 2 promoters who had hooked me up with this whole deal. i figured there must be some mistake or a miscommunication or something but the owner didnt even have anything scheduled for friday and wasn't even going to be at euphoria this WHOLE WEEK. so i was like freaking out and called the promoter who is my buddy and he seemed surprised that he didnt even know their names or whatever (how convenient). i called the other promoter who was working with the owner on this whole thing and he was no where to be found...the guy won't pick up the phone now and is not responding to emails or calls and is not at his apartment the last 2 days. so i mean theres a bit more to it but basically i got screwed over, none of the people who were involved were actually DOING anything about this no one followed up on anything. from what I understand there was an initial meeting with the owner and nothing happened after that and i should have known it was to good to be true, i was promised things, and i had a feeling. i felt out of the loop a bit and the whole thing was sketchy and i should have known that these guys were full of it.
no friday gig. no residency.
the GOOD NEWS:
while i was at euphoria, I did take advantage of what was going on and managed to network a little bit, got the owners contact information and i let him know that i'd be interested in doing this sort of thing privately (ive realized that you can't really trust peoples words when it sounds too good to be true so im taking it into my own hands). also, ive been collaborating with Nefardec recently. he's the founder of cornell university's Electronic Music Collective and we are now going to work together to build up the scene here and start doing some parties at this venue.
even though this whole thing turned into a fiasco and I now have a million people to call to tell them to cancel their plans for friday, I now realize (just like tony morello had said) that you realize who your friends are and who your enemies are in this sort of business very quickly. I now have a new opportunity to take things into my own hands and I think working with the cornell group and collaborating to combine all our connections, we're going to start something really great up here. Expect me to give another update with the organization of our first BIG party soon in the next few weeks. this is not the last that i'll see of Euphoria thats for sure!
btw to all those who had well wishes thanks a lot and sorry that this whole thing didnt work out, i was misled and i feel like such a douche having trusted these people...
