I remember playing at some small club - it was Wednesday or Thursday, I don´t know exactly - and a girl came to me holding small paper in her hand and there was: 'Tiösto - Trafic' 'Born Slipy'. I still lol at the 'ö' in 'Tiösto'.

Asking professional DJ's for requests was the subject of a huuuuuge discussion in our minibus on the way to see Sasha, Steve Lawler and Danny Howells play at a night called 'Steve Lawler presents'..... at Code in Birmingham in 2002.

We decided it was a bad idea because:-

- Most sets will likely be planned - Sasha especially. So you probably won't get it played.

- You've got to push through the trainspotters at the DJ box - an impossible task unless you are holding an original pressing of Pete Lazonby - Wavespeech (Junior Vasquez dub) or similar which you use to distract them.

- You've paid to see that DJ play, just let them do their thing.


And now what really happened....................

We had a girl with us who knew Sasha. Near the end of his set (and the night) she asked for Kosheen - Hide U (J.Creamer & Stefane K mix). Sasha encored with it.


Conclusion - As long as you don't ask for something stupid you might get it. Especially if, as in our case, you have a fit blonde girl who knows the DJ.
